packers’ โJosh Jacobs โคEyes Historic Touchdownโ Streak Against Browns
GREEN BAY, WIโค – Greenโฃ Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has the possibility to achieve a feat not seen in โover six decades,โฃ entering Sunday’s matchup against the โขCleveland Browns needing just one rushing touchdown to match a 61-year-old NFL record.Jacobs has scored in 13 consecutive โgames, amassing 16 rushing touchdownsโข over that span – a runโข secondโ only to Proโ Football Hall of Famerโข Jim Taylor, who had 16 touchdowns in a 10-game stretch fromโ October 14 to December 16, 1962.
Theโ streak began during a 20-19 win over the Chicago Bears in Week โค11 and included multiple standout performances, notably a โฃpair of โฃthree-touchdown games against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 12 and at theโข Detroit Lions in โWeek 14. โฃShould Jacobs find โขthe end zone against Cleveland,โ he willโค tie LaDainian โTomlinson for โthe โlongest streak of consecutive games withโ a โฃrushing touchdown in NFL history.
“The guy just creates plays,” said offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich. “He’s just got a knack for finding theโข seam, gettingโ in the end zone. It’sโฃ just a big confidence โboost when you get down inside the 5-yard line, give him the ball a couple times and you got a touchdown.”
Jacobs’ recentโ success was โคon โฃfull display โin the Packers’ 27-18 victory over theโ Washington Commanders, whereโข he powered throughโข linebacker frankie Luvu for โคa 2-yard touchdown. โขThat score marked his 15th during the current 11-game streak and his 12thโ from inside the 4-yard โline.
“Havingโ a guy like that helps you out,” right guard Sean โฃRhyan said.”We’re juiced up, just gonna try to get all our backs some light and hopefully keep that streak going forโข him.”
While Jacobs has previously generated 223 total yards in two gamesโ against โthe Browns, he has yet to score a rushing touchdown againstโค them – one of only โคeight teams โขhe’s faced multiple โtimes withoutโ finding the end zone. despite the potential toโ tie tomlinson’s record, Jacobs remains focused on the team’s overall goal.
“He’s one guy that I looked up toโฃ growing โคup playing this running back position, so it’s definitely aโ great โhonor,” Jacobs said. “But, man, I don’t really too much dig into it or look into it. I’m more concerned with wins โand losses.” โคthe Packers are currently โseeking their โfirst road win of the season.
