Pogačar Dominates Tour de France, Hints at Need for Rest
Tadej Pogačar has once again asserted his dominance in the Tour de France, leaving rivals in his wake. While his participation in the upcoming Vuelta a España remains undecided, Pogačar’s recent comments suggest a desire for a break after his commanding performance.
Pogačar’s supremacy in the current cycling landscape was undeniable throughout this Tour. While riders like Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert have demonstrated the ability to win individual stages, and Jonas Vingegaard is considered his closest peer,Pogačar has proven himself without a direct rival in this year’s race.
Addressing the pressures of being at the pinnacle of his sport, Pogačar acknowledged the presence of self-doubt. “There are always doubts,” he stated after the final stage.”When you have such strong opponents, not just Jonas, but everyone in the Tour is 100 percent, you never know what’s coming the next day.”
Only 11 riders will finish this Tour de France within one hour from the yellow jersey, something that has last happened 56 years ago.

Pogačar credited his support system, including his UAE team and his girlfriend Urska and their families, for helping him navigate these challenges. “I think it helps to have such a strong team around you, great support.Even if you have doubts, the atmosphere around you can help clear them away,” he explained. “You go into the race motivated, energized, and wanting to give it your all. if you give it all on the road, you don’t have anything to regret. But yes, there’s always a little bit of doubt. You never know.”
these statements reflect an athlete at the height of his abilities, not one consumed by insecurity. Pogačar’s decisive attack on Montmartre on Sunday underscored his continued strength and confidence. His consistent victories over the past two years show no signs of slowing down, positioning him as the dominant force in professional cycling, with other riders competing for the remaining positions.
