Meat on the bone

“I still enjoy the work, even though it may seem a bit strange” admits Bohdalka. The plot of the film brought her back to the time when she went to see her father in the communist criminal. “Dad experienced the previous regime very closely. This film is also being created so that we never return to that time…” says the actress, who will play a retired woman in the film who writes books and lectures at schools about the horrors of totalitarian power and experiences from the Soviet gulag. “I liked the script because it is deep and human. And also because there is, as they say, meat on the bones for actors. There’s simply something to play for.” adds Bohdalová.

Fear out of love

The director Strach has already filmed the movie Wrinkles of Love (2012) or the TV production The Cage (2019), for which he also wrote the script, with our oldest still working actress Epstein. “Shooting with an almost ninety-three-year-old lady is something incredible,” admits Fear. “She’s ripe for the Guinness Book of Records since she first played in 1937,” reminds the director. He will be filming with Jiřina Bohdalová for the whole of September. The film is scheduled to be broadcast on Czech television next year.
