HOUSTON – โ the family of a Houston-area man found dead under aโข freeway overpassโ believes he was murdered, and are demanding answers as police โinvestigate. The body of carnes,a native โofโค Alvin,Texas, was discovered near aโ homeless encampment, and authorities are treating the caseโ as a likely homicide.
Carnes’ sister,Kidd, stated sheโ “won’tโข stop until I get justiceโ for my brother,” and intends to remain actively involvedโ in โthe investigation. While Carnes had been โfacing hardship and doing odd โjobs in the Houston area, those who knew him remember a devoted father.โ “Whenโ he was home, he was present โand loving and the kid’s bestโ freind. He was just amazing with the kids,” kidd said.
Police areโฃ investigating the circumstances surrounding Carnes’ death,โ which involved a fire. According to Lt. Kahn, “It seemsโ very unlikely [to be suicide], especially because if he’s not โคjust hanging, ther’s also the fire.” The official cause of deathโค is โpending an โautopsy report fromโ the medicalโฃ examiner.
Aโ small measure of relief for the family came with the recent recovery of carnes’โ dog, which will be returned to his daughter. However, investigators have not yet identified any witnesses to theโค incident.
The โฃHouston Police Department is urging anyone with details โฃto contact the Homicideโฃ Division or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymousโ tip online at https://crime-stoppers.org/.
