WA Corruption โand Crime Commissioner Michaelโ corboy has โremoved sections of โa controversial report published by his predecessor, John McKechnie, regarding former WA Japanese trade commissioner Craig Peacock. โThe alterationsโค came just weeks after Corboy officially assumed the role, โฃfollowing a โreview of both theโค original CCC report and a โsubsequentโข report by โtheโข Parliamentary โคInspector.
The removed sectionsโ concerned โคthe basis โคof findings โคagainst Peacock, though the CCC maintains its opinionโ that Peacock engaged in serious misconduct. In a letter to Parliament, Commissioner corboy stated, “Having reviewed the reports, I have steadfast that the commission’s report shouldโ be โคamended and corrected.” A CCC spokesperson confirmedโค the decision followed aโ thorough โขreview of โthe documentation.
McKechnie’s originalโค report, published โfive-and-a-half years ago,โค sparkedโ debate regarding its findings.โค Corboy had been โacting in theโข Commissioner role since McKechnie’s retirement at the end โคof June and was formally appointed toโ the position two weeks ago.
