Pokรฉmon’s First Permanent Park Unveiled: PokรฉPark Kanto Opens Spring 2026
Immersive Entertainment Facility to Debut at Tokyo’s Yomiuri Park
Fans are buzzing as The Pokรฉmon Company announced a landmark new attraction: PokรฉPark Kanto, its first-ever permanent outdoor theme park. Scheduled to open its gates in spring 2026, the park promises an immersive experience for enthusiasts of all ages.
A World Where Pokรฉmon Live
PokรฉPark Kanto, named after the iconic Kanto region from the original 1996 games, will span approximately 2.6 hectares within Tokyo’s Yomiuri Park. This expansive new venture aims to create a tangible space where both people and Pokรฉmon can thrive, fulfilling a long-held dream for the franchise. Tickets are slated to go on sale in the fall of 2025.
Shunichi Matsuda, chief creative researcher for Pokรฉmon, shared the vision behind the project during a recent Pokรฉmon Presents broadcast. “Thanks to everyone’s support, Pokรฉmon has developed to its present appearance,” he stated. “In order to create a place where fans can gather and enjoy it, a ‘space where both people and Pokรฉmon can enjoy,’ Pokรฉmon began to create a world where Pokรฉmon actually exists.”
Two Distinct Themed Zones
The park will be divided into two main areas: “Caosa Town” and “Pokรฉmon Forest.” Pokรฉmon Forest is envisioned as a diverse natural landscape where various Pokรฉmon reside, allowing visitors to feel truly immersed in the Pokรฉmon world. Caosa Town, meanwhile, will replicate familiar locales such as Pokรฉmon Centers, item shops, and battle arenas, creating a vibrant hub for trainers and their Pokรฉmon.

A Partnership Spanning Years
The development of PokรฉPark Kanto is a collaborative effort between The Pokรฉmon Company, Yomiuri Park, and Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo Company. The three entities will jointly establish a new company, “PokรฉPark Kanto,” to manage its operations. This venture builds upon a long-standing relationship, marked by initiatives like the “Learn with Pokรฉmon!” educational series in the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper since 2009 and the “Pokรฉmon Wonder” experience facility at Yomiuri Park which opened in 2021.
The choice of Yomiuri Park, situated within the “Tama Hills” natural environment, aligns perfectly with the “Kanto” theme, as the area itself is considered a real-world parallel to the game’s setting. This strategic location provides a fitting backdrop for the park’s immersive concept.
Globally, theme parks continue to be a significant draw. For instance, Tokyo Disneyland, a fellow attraction in the Japanese capital, saw over 25 million visitors in 2023, highlighting the strong demand for such entertainment experiences (Disney Tourist Blog). PokรฉPark Kanto is poised to tap into this enthusiasm.

This ambitious project represents the culmination of years of collaboration, aiming to deliver an unparalleled, deeply engaging Pokรฉmon experience for fans worldwide.
