Isuzu Confirms Special Pricing for Bulk Pickup Purchases Amid Import Debate

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 27, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Jakarta – Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) has confirmed it offers discounted pricing for bulk purchases of its commercial vehicles, responding to claims by PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara that domestic manufacturers were unwilling to provide such deals. The statement from Isuzu comes after Agrinas announced it would import Mahindra pickup trucks from India, citing the lack of favorable bulk pricing from Indonesian manufacturers.

Anton Rusli, Vice President Director of IAMI, stated the company routinely provides special pricing for large-volume orders. “If we’re talking about additional benefits and special prices, that’s certainly possible. If you buy a lot, you’ll definitely get a better price,” Rusli said Thursday evening, as reported by DetikOto. He added that Isuzu determines its own pricing structure and offers discounts for bulk purchases.

Agrinas, led by Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, had previously stated its intention to purchase pickups in bulk to secure more economical pricing. Mota claimed that Indonesian manufacturers were unwilling to offer such terms, forcing the company to seek alternatives abroad. “The main issue is that we are buying in large quantities. So, we offered to buy in bulk, wholesale. We should have been given a more economical price to be more effective and meet the budget,” Mota said.

Isuzu has fulfilled an order from Agrinas for 900 light trucks, specifically the Isuzu ELF NMR model, according to GridOto. Rusli clarified that the deal was for light trucks, not pickup trucks, and that the vehicles would be delivered in stages as per the agreement. The Isuzu ELF NMR is a six-wheel light truck designed for logistics and construction, featuring a 4HL1-TCS Euro 4 diesel engine producing 148 horsepower and 402 Nm of torque.

Rusli acknowledged that pricing structures vary between manufacturers, stating, “Essentially, the price depends on each company’s cost structure. The answers will definitely be different.” He emphasized that Isuzu is prepared to offer competitive pricing based on its own cost analysis.

Agrinas’ decision to import Mahindra pickups is intended to support the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperative), which requires a fleet of vehicles including pickups, trucks, and three-wheeled motorcycles. Mota stated that the cooperative’s unique needs warranted special pricing, which was not forthcoming from domestic manufacturers.

IIMS 2026 Closes: No Visitor & Transaction Numbers Revealed | Jakarta Auto Show Update

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 14, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026 concluded Saturday, February 14th, without organizers disclosing visitor numbers or transaction totals, according to a statement released at the close of the event.

Dyandra Promosindo, the promoter of the annual automotive exhibition held at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta, acknowledged the event’s success in attracting attendees despite ongoing national economic uncertainties. Though, President Director Dazwar Marpaung declined to provide specific figures related to attendance or sales, stating, “We are grateful to God for providing smoothness in the midst of national economic uncertainty,” as reported by detikOto.

The 11-day exhibition, which officially ended February 14th but will conclude logistical operations on February 15th, featured 36 car brands, 26 motorcycle brands, 71 local small and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM), 21 creative industries, and 63 featured programs. Several new vehicle models, across both two and four-wheeled segments, were officially unveiled during the show.

This year’s IIMS marks the last time the event will be held in early February. Dyandra Promosindo announced that future iterations of the show will be shifted to mid-year, with the next IIMS scheduled for May 6-16, 2027, also at JIExpo Kemayoran. Marpaung stated the decision was made to capitalize on a more stable economic climate and increased consumer spending, as reported by LewatLensa.

The 2026 IIMS saw an expansion of the exhibition area to 156,170 square meters, a significant increase from the previous year’s 133,547 square meters. This expansion included the addition of the Grand Hall, hosting exhibitors from the automotive accessories sector, including the Indonesian Automotive Accessories Business Association (PAHAMI), and other supporting industries, according to LewatLensa.

While the total number of participants exceeded 190 and 62 automotive brands were represented, the specific economic impact of the event remains undisclosed. Marpaung emphasized the resilience of the Indonesian economy and the continued strength of the automotive market, but did not offer data to support these claims.

Honda Super One: Potential Indonesia Launch at GIIAS 2026 & Electric Brio Rival?

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 13, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has confirmed that the Super One, a potential electric vehicle positioned as a successor to the Brio, has undergone testing in Indonesia, though the company remains noncommittal about a launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Demonstrate (GIIAS) in 2026.

Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director at HPM, acknowledged the vehicle’s presence in Indonesia during a confirmation at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. “You’re the one mentioning GIIAS 2026, but I acknowledge it. The car has been tested on Indonesian roads, meaning we have a concrete objective regarding its implementation in Indonesia,” Billy stated.

Whereas speculation regarding the vehicle’s price has circulated, reportedly in the range of Rp 400-500 million, Billy indicated that HPM has not yet conducted pricing research. “We haven’t studied the pricing yet, but we’re continuing to learn about what it might be,” he said.

The confirmation of the Super One’s potential Indonesian entry follows an announcement at the Japan Mobility Show (JMS) 2025 by Hidetomo Horita, Large Project Leader for the Honda Super One, that the vehicle would be introduced to Indonesia in 2026.

The Super One is built on the “e: Dash Booster” concept, prioritizing driving enjoyment. The compact vehicle features active sound control and a boost mode, powered by a 95 PS electric motor with a maximum range of 295 km. Despite its small size, Honda classifies the Super One as a hatchback, similar to the Brio, rather than a kei car.

The Super One is currently available in Singapore, where it carries a price tag of up to Rp 2 billion, a cost inflated by the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) required for vehicle ownership in the country.
