The fate of the nomination Ann Baswedn as a candidate for governor in 2024 Jakarta Pilkada on the line. One by one the parties that had supported him began to withdraw support.

Anies was initially promoted by PKS and NasDem to run again as Jakarta Governor in this year’s regional elections. However, support for both parties has declined further in the past week.

PKS is now starting to turn to the Indonesian Progressive Coalition (KIM) to support Ridwan Kamil as KIM’s candidate. At the same time, NasDem, through its General Chairman, Surya Paloh, has said that the 2024 regional elections are not the move for Anies to run as a candidate for governor.

“Yes, that is clear, I have told Mr. Anies. Anies, you as a younger brother, this is not your time to run for the Greater Jakarta Pilkada,” said Surya Paloh after meeting with Gerindra General Chairman and 2024-2029 President-elect Prabowo Subianto on Jl Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Thursday (15/8).

Surya Paloh promised to give Anies a more suitable move. He said he gave that understanding to Anies.

“We are looking for a more appropriate momentum in the future. That understanding is there,” he said.

Anies visits NasDem DPP after withdrawal of support

NasDem Party DPP Chairman Willy Aditya said Anies Baswedan visited NasDem Party DPP in Central Jakarta yesterday. Willy said that Anies already understood the decision made by the Chairman of NasDem, Surya Paloh.

“Yesterday Mr. Anies went to the NasDem Party DPP, that’s Mr. Anies’ house. So, when Mr. Anies comes to chat, talk about many of the things we talked about and yes, Mr. Anies is already ‘understand the current situation, there are decisions taken together, not one-sided,’ said Willy at the parliament building, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (16/8/2024).

Willy said that communication is still being done to reach a common ground. He said there was nothing to cover.

“That’s the culture Pak Surya built, everything that is difficult, when we talk about it, can be common ground. So there is no hiding. There are no gray areas, there is a all decisions are the result of in-depth discussions with Mas. Anies himself,” he said.

Willy said that there was no sign of disappointment from Anies Baswedan from the meeting. He said many variables were considered when NasDem made a decision.

“No, no one is disappointed. Friends can ask Mas Anies and this is not a final decision, there are many dynamics, there are many variables, and they are all taken and discussed with Mas Anies ,” he said.

India: Open Paloh Suswono PKS to be Deputy Governor of RK in Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh spoke on the name of PKS Central Advisory Council Chairman Suswono who is said to be the candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) Ridwan Kamil (RK). Paloh admitted that his party had no problem if the Indonesian Progressive Coalition (KIM) decided on the RK-Suswono couple to run in the next Jakarta gubernatorial election.

“There is no problem. NasDem is fine,” said Paloh at the DPR building, Jakarta, today.

Paloh was also asked about the chances of RK being with Kaesang. He reiterated that NasDem would not be concerned if the conversation came to fruition.

“No problem. Whatever. It’s up to you,” he said.

Paloh also said that there could be differences between the candidates supported by NasDem and KIM in each regional election. He called this natural dynamic.

“I think there are variations. KIM is sure. But gifts from regional areas are not necessarily uniform. The same regions have different preferences. That’s normal,” he said.
