Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

United Nations General Assembly (PBB) succeeded in passing a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

In an emergency meeting on Tuesday (12/12) afternoon New York time, 153 countries supported the resolution proposed by Egypt. Meanwhile, 10 countries opposed and 23 other countries abstained from voting on the resolution.

Quoted CNNthe voting on this resolution took place after Egypt used resolution 377A to urge the UN General Assembly to discuss the increasingly dying situation in Gaza.

Egypt used resolution 377A to “fight” the United States, which vetoed the latest UN Security Council draft resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza last week.

During the voting, a number of countries, including the United States, proposed amendments to the draft UN General Assembly resolution.

The US is adamant that the resolution should mention condemnation of the Hamas attack on Israel which occurred on October 7.

In its final decision, the agreed resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, insisting that all parties comply with international law, and granting humanitarian access to the hostages and their “immediate and unconditional” release.

The statement contained stronger wording than a previous resolution last October that called for a “sustainable humanitarian ceasefire.”

UN General Assembly resolutions do have political significance and are seen as having high moral weight. However, this resolution is not as binding as resolutions passed by the UN Security Council so it does not guarantee that Israel will comply.

So far, Israel has vowed not to stop its military aggression against Palestine until it completely eradicates Hamas.

Israel’s aggression against Palestine became even more reckless after the first ceasefire ended without extension.

To date, Israel’s aggression against Palestine since October 7 has killed more than 18,200 people and injured more than 50 thousand people. This death toll is double the death toll from the Russian invasion of Ukraine which has been going on since February 2022.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

The team Israel now started raiding the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza north, according to a Health Ministry spokesperson.

“The lives of patients in hospitals are in danger,” the health ministry said.

Over the previous few days, Israeli soldiers had surrounded and shelled the hospital.

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Ahmad al-Kahlout, stated that Israeli troops stationed near the Beit Lahiya city facility were targeting anyone who tried to enter the hospital, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

“The Israeli army surrounded the hospital with tanks and guns, and targeted all roads leading to the facility,” al-Kahlout said.

In a post on Telegram, Ashraf al-Qudra said Israeli forces were rounding up men, including medical staff, on the hospital grounds, who he feared would be arrested.

“We call on the UN, the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross to act immediately to save the lives of those hospitalized,” al-Qudra said.

Due to this raid and raid, two women and two children were killed because Israel targeted the hospital’s maternity ward.

The siege at Kamal Adwan Hospital made the community even more trapped and afraid of an increasingly tense situation.

“The Israeli army has surrounded the hospital from all sides. We are being targeted by gunfire and artillery shells,” said Munir Al Bursh, Gaza Ministry of Health who is in Kamal Adwan Hospital, as reported by Al Jazeera on Tuesday (5/12).

“Patients, injured victims and those sheltering in hospitals are gripped by fear and shrouded in horror,” he continued.

More than 100 people were reported killed in attacks around the hospital.

Many eyewitnesses saw the horror of Israel killing anyone who tried to escape from the hospital.

Al Bursh and civilians at Kawal Adwan Hospital are worried that a similar massacre will occur as at Al Shifa Hospital and Indonesian Hospital.

“We are worried that there will be a massacre at Kamal Adwan Hospital, like what happened at [RS Al-Shifa] and [RS Indonesia],” said Al Bursh.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

United Nations General Assembly (PBB) will hold an emergency meeting regarding the situation in Palestine Gaza Strip on Tuesday (12/12).

This emergency meeting was a response to the failure of the Security Council to adopt a ceasefire resolution due to the United States’ veto last Friday.

This emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly was held after Egypt and Mauritania took advantage of UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) resolution 377 which is known as the “United Resolution for Peace”.

In a letter shared by UN General Assembly president Dennis Francis on Monday (11/12), the representatives of Egypt and Mauritania called for a special emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly “in their respective capacities as Chairs of the Group of Arab States and the Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) .”

In their letter, Egypt and Mauritania consider UNGA resolution 377 necessary to enable the General Assembly to convene and make recommendations when the UNSC “fails to carry out its primary responsibility to act as necessary to maintain international peace and security.

“In the absence of a ceasefire and in light of the ongoing gross violations of international law, including humanitarian and human rights law, and violations of relevant UN resolutions… the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including East Jerusalem, in particular in the Gaza Strip, conditions continue to deteriorate dramatically,” the joint UN General Assembly letter was quoted as saying CNN.

Francis said this emergency meeting is expected to take place at around 15.00 New York time, United States.

Israel’s brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip has become increasingly rampant since the ceasefire ended at the end of last November. The death toll as a result of Israeli aggression against Palestine since October 7 has reached 18 thousand people, including 7,800 children and 5,153 women.

For the umpteenth time, the US used its veto power and again thwarted a UN Security Council resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip last Friday.

As many as 13 of the 15 member countries of the UN Security Council supported the resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, the US vetoed and the UK abstained.

The UNSC draft resolution submitted by the United Arab Emirates calls for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire”, the unconditional release of all Hamas hostages, and ensuring humanitarian access for civilians in Gaza.

Discussion of this resolution at the UN Security Council also took place after being triggered by a letter from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres which used Article 99 of the UN Charter.

Article 99 of the UN Charter gives the UN Secretary General the authority to raise any issues and problems deemed important because they may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security.

Hamas’ armed wing, the Al Qassam Brigades, claimed that it was aware of the rescue operation carried out by Israeli special forces.

Al Qassam also claimed that several Israeli special forces personnel were killed and injured in the clashes. However, they did not specify the number of Israeli soldiers killed or injured.

Quoted Reuters On Friday (8/12), Hamas identified the Israeli soldier who was its hostage as 25 year old Sa’ar Baruch.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military did not immediately respond to Hamas’ claim about one of its personnel being killed.

During its attack on Israel on October 7, Hamas took more than 200 people hostage, including soldiers and foreigners, in Israel.

This Hamas attack was the trigger for Israel’s brutal aggression against Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 17 thousand civilians.

Israeli troops once rescued a soldier who was being held captive by Hamas in Gaza around the end of last October. Meanwhile, dozens of Hamas hostages have also been freed in a ceasefire agreement with Israel on November 22.

Even so, brutal Israeli aggression is continuing in the Gaza Strip following a ceasefire period which ended without further extension

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Soldier Israel reportedly experienced mass indigestion due to food poisoning. This mass illness was also experienced by Israeli troops stationed in Gaza Strip during the aggression.

According to a report by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, quoted from Middle East Monitor on Tuesday (5/12), the ‘outbreak’ of diarrhea started with the large number of food donations from various restaurants to Israeli soldiers.

However, unhygienic food storage and shipping causes food to be contaminated with bacteria. This then caused widespread digestive diseases, acute diarrhea and high fevers among soldiers.

“Diarrhea has spread among soldiers in the south [Israel]then spread among soldiers on duty in Gaza,” said Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit at Assuta Ashdod University Hospital Dr. Tal Brosh.

“We diagnosed a Shigella bacterial infection that triggers dysentery, a very dangerous disease that is spreading among soldiers in Gaza,” he continued.

Broch explained that the outbreak of diarrhea and fever had an impact on the condition of Israeli soldiers. The reason is, the bacterial infection continues to spread, causing many soldiers to experience a decline in their health condition.

Israeli military members who suffer from diarrhea and fever until their body temperature rises are even considered not fit enough to serve.

Broch also reminded that digestive diseases carry a risk of death if they do not receive further medical treatment.

“If the infection spreads among 10 soldiers in the infantry, and they develop a fever once the temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius, and when they start having diarrhea every 20 minutes, then they are no longer fit for duty and put themselves at risk of death,” he said.

Until now, Israeli aggression in Palestine continues. The death toll due to Israeli aggression against Palestine since October 7 has now reached 16,159 thousand as of Tuesday (5/12).

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 15,899 people were killed as a result of Israeli aggression in the territory. Meanwhile, as many as 42 thousand other Palestinians were injured as a result of the Israeli attack.

Israel’s attacks on Gaza have also continued since the ceasefire ended last Friday (1/12). The ceasefire only lasted a week after being extended twice.
