Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Minister of Foreign Affairs IsraelIsrael Katz, says his country is currently in the midst of World War III.

Katz said that in this war, Israel’s opponent was “radical Islam led by Iran, whose ‘tentacles’ are already in Europe.”

On his first day in office as Foreign Minister on Tuesday (2/1), Katz accused Tehran of actively developing nuclear weapons.

“The front that Iran is building in this region is not only against Israel and its interests; it is a third world war in the current situation,” Katz was quoted as saying Anadolu Agency.

He also claimed that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons is at its strongest momentum in recent times.

Earlier this week the Israeli government approved the appointment of Israel Katz, who previously served as energy minister, as foreign minister.

Katz replaces Eli Cohen, who currently serves as Israel’s Energy Minister. Katz previously served as Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2019-2020

“We are going through challenging times. First of all, my top priority is to get the hostages home [dari Gaza],” she said.

Until now, it is estimated that there are still more than 100 Israeli hostages in Gaza.

Meanwhile, almost three months into the Israeli genocide in Gaza, more than 22 thousand Palestinians died, while millions of people were also displaced.

Of the tens of thousands of victims who died, more than half were women and children.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Capital IsraelTel Aviv, reportedly received bombardment of 20 missiles from resistance groups Hamas right on the new year celebration January 1, 2024.

Reported by local Israeli media outlets, of the 20 missiles fired towards Tel Aviv, 10 of them were successfully thwarted, reported via Al JazeeraMonday (1/1).

According to Al Jazeera’s report, the missiles fired from Gaza simultaneously were directed towards a number of cities in Israel. Sirens warning of passing rockets reportedly continued to sound over the cities of Tel Aviv, Gush Dan, and the surrounding Gaza area.

Apart from that, a rocket fragment was also found around the Kaplan Hospital, Rehovot. However, there were no casualties from the fall of the rocket.

Meanwhile, Israel’s indiscriminate aggression carried out in the Gaza Strip, Palestine for three months without stopping has recently been recorded as having destroyed around 70 percent of the houses in the besieged area.

According to a Wall Street Journal report as of Friday (30/12), around 300,000 of the 439,000 houses in Gaza have been destroyed as a result of Israeli attacks obtained through analysis of satellite imagery.

The report also added that 29,000 bombs were dropped in the region targeting residential areas, Byzantine-era churches, hospitals, shopping centers and all civil infrastructure. The building had been damaged beyond repair.

No further details were provided. But previous reports said more than 200 archaeological heritage sites were destroyed in Israeli bombings considered the most destructive in modern history.

Israel’s attacks are also thought to have caused more damage than any other city in the world than the destruction of Aleppo in Syria between 2012 and 2016, Mariupol in Ukraine, or the Allied bombing of Germany in World War II.

This Israeli attack has also killed more civilians than the United States-led coalition carried out in its three-year campaign against the Islamic State group.

“Now they are at the top of the list of the most devastating bombings ever,” said University of Chicago political scientist Robert Pape, to the Wall Street Journal, reported via Al Jazeera, Sunday (31/12).

Israel’s military aggression in Gaza, experts say, is also among the deadliest in history. This is because the aggression killed more than 21,500 people and injured 55,000 people. More than 1,000 children have had their limbs amputated in Israeli attacks since October 7.

The Israeli army claimed that it had targeted Hamas fighters, who carried out attacks on Israeli territory on October 7. About 1,200 people were killed in the attacks that sparked the current phase of the conflict.

However, experts criticized Israel for bombing the Gaza area, which is one of the most densely populated areas in the world housing 2.3 million people on 365 square kilometers of land.

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there could be no peace until the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, was destroyed. This statement was contained in Netanyahu’s opinion piece which was released Wall Street Journal on Monday (25/12) evening.

“Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized. These are the three prerequisites for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors in Gaza,” Netanyahu said.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

United States of America (US) approves sale of high-explosive ammunition and war equipment to Israel on Friday (29/12). The total sales were recorded at US$147.5 million or around Rp. 2,242 trillion.

The sale was made under emergency provisions bypassing congressional review. The same terms were used in early December to approve the sale of nearly 14,000 tank ammunition to Israel.

“The Secretary of State determined that there was an emergency that required the immediate sale of weapons to the Israeli government thereby bypassing the normal requirements for congressional review,” wrote a statement from the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, reported AFP.

Israel, the agency continued, will utilize this increased capability to prevent regional threats and strengthen its internal defense.

“It is the obligation of all countries to use ammunition in accordance with international humanitarian law,” they added.

Since it began on October 7, Israel’s aggression has claimed more than 21 thousand lives in the Gaza Strip. Most of them are groups of women and children.

The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that at least 21,320 Palestinians were killed and more than 55 thousand injured as a result of the war.

Since the temporary ceasefire ended in early December, Israel has increasingly brutalized its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Israel is also expanding its operations to the south, a region where hundreds of thousands of refugees are sheltering.

It is estimated that around 1.9 million Gaza residents have been displaced since last October. The UN refugee agency (UNRWA) warned that 40 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents are currently at risk of starvation.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Yemeni Militia, Houthiadmitted to launching a drone attack targeting the port city Israel Eilat, as well as commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group carried out drone strikes in Eilat and “other areas in Israeli-occupied Palestine”, as reported Al Jazeera.

Sarea also said the group launched missiles at the MSC United ship in the Red Sea, after the ship ignored three warning calls.

Shipping company MSC Mediterranean confirmed that the MSC United VIII, which was en route from the port of King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia to Karachi in Pakistan, experienced an attack.

The company is currently conducting an investigation and reporting the incident to the US-led naval coalition in the Red Sea, which was formed to “gang up” on the Houthis.

This statement also came a few hours after the British Maritime Trade Operations (UMKTO) also received a report about an incident involving a ship off the coast of Yemen, hit by a drone attack,

UMKTO reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday (26/12), about 111 kilometers outside Yemen’s Hodeidah port.

“A commercial shipping vessel was attacked by two suicide drones,” said Al Jazeera correspondent Resul Serdar, reporting from Djibouti across the sea from Yemen.

This drone incident occurred amid high tensions in the Red Sea, after the Houthis targeted ships on the Red Sea trade route, as a form of solidarity with Palestine amid Israeli aggression.

The United States previously said the Houthis had launched more than 100 drone and missile attacks, targeting 10 commercial vessels with ties to dozens of countries.

After the series of incidents, the US recently announced a security coalition to protect commercial shipping routes from Houthi attacks and carry out regular patrols.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Representative United Arab Emirates held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Liberation Organization Palestine (Palestine Liberation Organization/PLO) in Abu Dhabi, Thursday (21/12).

According to reports Middle East EyeUAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan met PLO Secretary General Hussein Al Sheikh during Israel’s increasingly brutal aggression in Gaza.

They discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to ceasefire.

The meeting took place when the United Nations (UN) Security Council several times postponed voting on resolutions related to Gaza.

Diplomats familiar with the matter said an agreement was close to being reached on Thursday evening. However, it was delayed due to debate between UN Security Council members. They are scheduled to hold another vote today, Friday.

Members of the UN unit were close to reaching an agreement late Thursday, but the US was said to have objected.

An important point that has become an obstacle for the US is UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ proposal to establish a monitoring mechanism in Gaza.

“Exclusively monitors all humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza provided via land, sea and air [dari negara yang bukan pihak perang,” demikian usulan Guterres, dikutip Reuters.

Houthi Militias’ Attacks on Israeli Affiliated Ships in Red Sea Cause Global Concerns

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

Militias occupying Yemen Houthi became the spotlight after continuing to attack nearby waters IsraelRed Sea, since Zionist forces launched aggression against Palestine.

Before Israel’s aggression against Palestine, the Houthis often attacked the area. The recent attacks have left the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his close ally the United States at a loss.

The US even announced that it would form a coalition in the Red Sea with 10 other countries including Bahrain.

The Houthi action was politically justified by a number of groups as a form of support for Palestinian resistance to Israeli aggression.

However, the militia’s actions in randomly attacking and hijacking cargo ships are considered to disrupt the supply chain and have an impact on the world economy.

The following are the Houthi moves that have made Israel and its allies confused.

Attack ships using drones

The Houthis attacked three commercial ships near Israel’s Red Sea using ballistic missiles on December 3.

The Houthi attack hit the Bahamas-flagged commercial ship, Unity Explore, and the Panama-flagged ships Number 9 and Sophie II.

Houthi Armed Forces spokesman, Yahya Saree, claimed the militia hit the first ship using missiles and the second using drones in the Bab El Mandeb Strait.

The Bab El Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

“Yemen’s armed forces continue to prevent Israeli ships from crossing the Red Sea (and the Gulf of Aden) until Israel’s aggression against our brothers in the Gaza Strip is stopped,” said Saree, quoted from Associated Press.

Earlier this week, a Norwegian ship was hit by an unidentified object in the Red Sea.

In an official release, ship owner Norway’s Inventor Chemical Tankers said the ship did not suffer significant damage. The attack also did not cause any fatalities or injuries. However, so far no party has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Attack ships affiliated with Israel

The Houthis also warned all Israeli ships or any ships affiliated with the Zionist government.

“They will become legitimate targets if they violate what is stated in this statement,” said Saare.
