UN Commission Finds Evidence Supportingโ Genocide Claim in Gaza
A UN Commission has determined there is evidence suggesting acts ofโ genocide are occurring in Gaza, focusing on actions taken against Palestinians since October 7th. The Commission’s analysis centers on three specific acts outlined in โฃthe Genocideโค Convention.
The report details evidence that Israel โฃis “deliberately exposing the group toโ living conditions aimed at contributing to its physical destruction โขin whole orโค in part.” This includes a total blockade โrestricting access to water, electricity, food, โand medicine, alongside the destruction of housing, agriculture, schools, andโ hospitals – conditions the Commission โbelieves are “calculated โto bring about the group’s โphysical destruction.”
Further evidence cited involves “measuresโ aimed at preventing births within the group.” The Commission specifically points to the December 2023 โattack on โขthe Al-Basma IVF clinic in Gaza, which destroyed 4,000 embryos and 1,000 sperm andโ egg samples. The report also notes the destruction of maternity wards, shortages of medicine โคfor pregnant women, and increased newborn mortality rates as contributing factors.
Regarding the actโข of forcibly โtransferring children, the Commission stated it “has notโ found evidence that Palestinian children have been forced to move โขto another group.”
The Commission concluded that the evidence suggests the intent required to establish genocide is present. โข
