TEHERAN – Members of parliament in Iran have submitted a bill to parliament proposing an increase in the nation’s military budget. this move is aimed at bolstering the armed forces in the face of ongoing regional confrontations.
Parliamentary approval and Rationale
On Sunday, the National Security Committee and Parliamentary Foreign Policy gave their approval to the outline of the proposed law. Ebrahim Rezaei, the committee’s spokesman, stated that the bill was passed during a meeting attended by key officials from the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Army, and the Islamic revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
The bill, sponsored by Ali Khezrian, a representative from Tehran, garnered support from 120 members of parliament, Rezaei added. During the hearing,Iran’s Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding budget resources to adequately meet the nation’s defense requirements.
