Secret Service Investigates Suspicious Objects Found Near Florida Airport Ahead of potential Trump Visit
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The Secret Service discovered “objects of interest” during a security sweep near Palm Beach International Airport, a potential landing zone for Air Force One, officials confirmed Tuesday. The FBI is now leading an inquiry into the incident.
“During physical sweeps, our teams identified objects of interest near Palm Beach International Airport,” said Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Secret Service Communications. “There were no impacts to movements observed and no people were present or involved at the scene. while we cannot provide details on the specific objects or their purpose, this incident underscores the importance of our multi-level security measures.”
The discovery comes amid heightened security concerns surrounding former President Donald Trump, who has been the target of multiple assassination attempts. Last month, Ryan Routh was found guilty of attempting to harm Trump while he played golf at his Florida course in 2023. In July 2024, Trump was also injured during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, pennsylvania.
Following the Pennsylvania incident, the Secret Service acknowledged an “operational failure,” with reports citing “dialog failures, technological problems, and human failure” as contributing factors. The FBI is currently handling the investigation into the objects found near Palm Beach International Airport, and the Secret Service stated it will defer further comment to the Bureau.
