Marc Marquez Wheel Failure: Ducati Explains Thailand MotoGP Crash & Michelin Concerns

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor March 2, 2026
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Marc Márquez suffered a wheel failure during the MotoGP Grand Prix of Thailand on Sunday, forcing his retirement from the race on lap 21, Ducati Team Manager Davide Tardozzi confirmed. The incident occurred after Márquez’s rear wheel impacted a kerb at Turn 4 of the Buriram circuit.

“Unfortunately, he hit the kerb in Turn 4, and the rim broke,” Tardozzi told TNT Sport. “That’s why Marc lost control and had to stop. Hitting the edge of the turn and the wheel breaking.”

The incident caps a challenging weekend for Márquez, who received a penalty during the sprint race and finished fourth in the main race. He had been attempting to challenge Raul Fernandez of Trackhouse Aprilia for a podium position before the wheel failure.

Piero Taramasso, head of Michelin, noted that wheel damage had been observed throughout the weekend in Buriram, attributing it to the high temperatures and the nature of the kerbs. “We had this problem all weekend, many wheels were bent when they came back to the tent because it was very hot,” Taramasso explained. “The material is very soft, and the kerbs are aggressive. For example, Martin’s loss of pressure at the front was exactly the same: he hit the kerb, then the front wheel was bent and deflated. Jorge was losing air slowly, while Marc lost all the air at once.”

The race saw a strong performance from Aprilia, with Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing taking first place and Raul Fernandez securing third. Pedro Acosta of KTM finished second. Fabio Di Giannantonio of Pertamina Enduro VR46 was the highest-placed Ducati rider, finishing more than 15 seconds behind Bezzecchi.

The result ended a streak of 88 consecutive podium finishes for Ducati, and marked the first race since the 2021 British Grand Prix where a Ducati Desmosedici did not feature in the top three.

According to reports from February 26, 2026, Marc Marquez entered the 2026 season as a strong favorite to continue his success, having secured a seventh world championship in 2025. The 2026 season began with the Grand Prix of Thailand at Buriram on March 1st.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Dead: Who Will Be the Next?

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor March 1, 2026
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Tehran, Iran – Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, has died following a major attack by the United States and Israel, Iranian state media confirmed Saturday. The death of Khamenei, who had held power since 1989, throws Iran’s political future into uncertainty and raises the specter of further regional escalation.

The attack, described by Israeli officials as an effort to dismantle Iran’s security apparatus, comes after a period of heightened tensions. U.S. Central Command released videos showing missile strikes targeting a variety of locations within Iran, while Israel reported a barrage of Iranian missiles in response, injuring a woman in Tel Aviv.

Iran’s constitution outlines a complex process for selecting a new supreme leader. The 88-member Assembly of Experts, a body of senior clerics, is tasked with choosing Khamenei’s successor. This is only the second time the assembly has undertaken this responsibility since the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979; the first was following the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989, leading to the swift selection of Khamenei.

According to reports, the Iranian government will attempt to project stability while the Assembly of Experts convenes to discuss potential candidates. However, the timing of this process is complicated by President Donald Trump’s stated intention to continue targeting the regime, potentially deterring open meetings.

The new leader must meet specific qualifications outlined in the constitution: be a male Shia Muslim cleric with political competence, moral authority, and loyalty to the Islamic Republic. The Assembly of Experts has the power to interpret these rules, potentially excluding reformist clerics who advocate for greater social freedoms and engagement with the international community.

Sources indicate that Khamenei had reportedly identified four potential successors before his death, though their identities remain undisclosed. In the interim, a three-member council comprised of the president, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist from the Guardian Council will collectively assume the duties of the supreme leadership.

Several individuals have been identified as potential candidates. Mojtaba Khamenei, the 56-year-old son of the late supreme leader, is considered a powerful figure with strong ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij militia. However, hereditary succession is viewed unfavorably within Shia Muslim circles, and Mojtaba lacks the formal religious credentials of a high-ranking cleric. He was too sanctioned by the U.S. In 2019.

Alireza Arafi, a 67-year-old cleric and current vice chairman of the Assembly of Experts, is described as a trusted confidant of Khamenei. He also serves on the influential Guardian Council, which vets election candidates and legislation. Arafi is considered proficient in technology and fluent in Arabic and English, having authored 24 books and articles.

Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, a 60-year-old hardline cleric and member of the Assembly of Experts, represents the most conservative wing of the Iranian clergy. He recently justified high casualty figures in the conflict in Gaza, stating that even the deaths of half the world’s population would be “worth it” to achieve closeness to God. He currently leads the Islamic Sciences Academy in the holy city of Qom.

Hassan Khomeini, the 50-year-old grandson of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, possesses significant religious and revolutionary legitimacy. However, he has not held public office and appears to have limited influence within the security apparatus or ruling elite. He was barred from running for the Assembly of Experts in 2016.

Hashem Hosseini Bushehri, a senior cleric in his 60s, is closely associated with the institutions managing the succession process, particularly the Assembly of Experts, where he serves as the first vice chairman. He is described as close to Khamenei but maintains a low profile domestically and lacks strong ties to the IRGC.

As of Sunday, the Assembly of Experts has not announced a timeline for selecting a new supreme leader. The political landscape remains fluid, and the potential for further conflict remains high.

6 English Clubs in Champions League Last 16: Can One Win It All?

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor February 26, 2026
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Manchester City secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Wednesday, intensifying the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal, who drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The results leave Arsenal with a four-point lead over Manchester City, though City have a game in hand.

The win at St. James’ Park was propelled by a brace from Nico O’Reilly, according to reports. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s stumble at Molineux saw them relinquish a two-goal advantage, failing to extend their lead at the summit. The Gunners have now won only two of their last seven league games, raising concerns about their ability to maintain their position as the season progresses.

The current Premier League standings show Arsenal leading with 61 points, followed by Manchester City with 57 points. Aston Villa currently sits in third place. The shift in momentum comes as Arsenal’s previously dominant form has waned in recent weeks, mirroring a pattern observed in previous seasons where they have faltered during the crucial closing stages of the title race.

Manchester City’s recent form has been strong, with the team demonstrating a capacity to close the gap on Arsenal. A key fixture looms on April 18th, when City will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. The outcome of this match could prove decisive in determining the eventual champion. Arsenal similarly face challenging back-to-back games against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

The Sky Sports report from January 7, 2026, highlighted a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Chelsea, with Enzo Fernandez scoring a late equalizer for the Blues. That result, occurring at a snowy Etihad Stadium, saw City lose ground on Arsenal at the time. The report also noted City’s somewhat subdued performance, despite taking the lead through Tijjani Reijnders.

ESPN’s analysis from February 19, 2026, pointed to a familiar pattern for Arsenal, drawing parallels to previous seasons where they have struggled to maintain a lead in the title race. The 2-2 draw against Wolves was described as “disastrous” in the context of the championship charge. The article emphasized that if Manchester City win all their remaining games, including the match against Arsenal, they will secure the title.

Looking ahead, Arsenal’s remaining schedule includes matches against the bottom three teams in the league, offering opportunities to solidify their position. Manchester City, however, still have to face Chelsea and Arsenal, as well as a potentially difficult match against third-placed Aston Villa at the finish of the season. Planetfootball.com details the remaining fixtures for both teams, outlining the challenges that lie ahead.

Chelsea’s own ambitions of Champions League qualification were dented in a separate result, though details remain limited. The Premier League title race remains fiercely contested, with both Arsenal and Manchester City facing significant hurdles in their pursuit of the championship.

TVS Motor Indonesia Reaches 1 Million Unit Production Milestone | Exports Surge

by Priya Shah – Business Editor February 21, 2026
written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Karawang, Indonesia – TVS Motor Company Indonesia has reached a significant milestone, producing its one millionth vehicle at its manufacturing facility in Karawang, West Java. The achievement, announced on Thursday, February 19, 2026, marks a substantial contribution to Indonesia’s automotive industry and expands the Indian manufacturer’s global production footprint.

The one million units produced encompass both two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles, catering to both the domestic Indonesian market and export destinations across Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, according to a statement from the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE).

“PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia has demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening the national automotive industry through continuous investment, increased exports, and compliance with industry regulations,” stated Setia Diarta, Director General of ILMATE. The company began operations in Indonesia in 2007, establishing a fully integrated manufacturing facility in Karawang.

Since commencing commercial production, TVS Motor Company Indonesia has invested USD 250 million (approximately Rp 4.12 trillion) in its Indonesian operations. This investment has not only created hundreds of direct jobs but has as well generated economic benefits for an estimated 8,000 indirect workers through its network of distributors, suppliers, contractors, and service providers.

The Karawang plant now serves as a key global production base for TVS Motor Company, alongside its facilities in India and the United Kingdom. Approximately 95% of the vehicles produced at the Indonesian facility are two-wheelers, with the remaining 5% being three-wheelers, according to a regulatory filing.

TVS Motor Company’s success in Indonesia is also linked to its adherence to local content requirements. The company has met the necessary Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN) standards, enabling its products to participate in government procurement programs at both the national and regional levels. For example, TVS recently supplied 700 three-wheeled motorcycles for a cooperative development program, Percepatan Pembangunan Fisik Gerai, Pergudangan dan Perlengkapan Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih, through a partnership with PT Agrinas.

The Indonesian two-wheeled vehicle market remains robust, with sales exceeding 6.4 million units in 2025, representing a 1.3% increase compared to 2024. Exports also contributed significantly, reaching approximately 540,000 completely built-up (CBU) units with a total export value of Rp 10.5 trillion, according to ILMATE data.

TVS Motor Company currently operates 49 dealerships across Indonesia, strategically located in Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. The company reported a 49% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the December quarter, reaching ₹841 crore (approximately USD 9.5 million) compared to ₹566 crore in the same period the previous year.

Man City Title Challenge Boosted as Arsenal Drop Points in Premier League

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor February 20, 2026
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions he will pressure his squad to capitalize on recent stumbles by league-leading Arsenal, stating his sole focus remains on the upcoming match against Newcastle United.

The shift in the Premier League title race comes after Arsenal, previously five points clear at the top of the table, drew with both Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last two league fixtures. These results offer Manchester City an opportunity to close the gap to just two points, with a game in hand, according to reports.

Despite the potential for momentum to swing in City’s favor, Guardiola emphatically denied any internal discussion regarding Arsenal’s dropped points. “I don’t discuss that at all, not for one second,” Guardiola stated, as quoted by BBC. “Only Newcastle, Newcastle, Newcastle.”

Guardiola further emphasized his disinterest in analyzing the league standings at this stage of the season. “I don’t discuss the table, or our position, or anything about that. I don’t care. There are still 12 games,” he said. He indicated he would only address the title race with a more focused perspective when fewer matches remain. “If you ask me about this with two or three games left, I will have an answer. But it’s still 12 games, that’s a long time!”

Arsenal’s recent results included a 1-1 draw against Brentford on September 14th, 2025, and a 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 21st, 2025. On September 22nd, 2025, Arsenal secured a 1-1 draw against Manchester City, with a late goal from Gabriel Martinelli preventing a defeat. Earlier in the season, on February 2nd, 2025, Arsenal defeated Manchester City 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium, with goals from Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri. Erling Haaland scored the lone goal for City in that match.

The Premier League website confirms Arsenal will face Manchester City again later in the 2025/2026 season.
