The plan, spearheaded by EU Industry Commissioner stรฉphane Sรฉjournรฉ, seeks to diminish the bloc’s dependence on China, which currently dominates both the mining and processing of these vital resources. Sรฉjournรฉ recently accused Beijing of “blackmail” regarding rare earth supplies, underscoring the urgency of the Commission’s response.
