Indonesia national team no need to worry if so Martin Paes absent against Bahrain in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier Because there are still two goalkeepers with promising qualities.

The two goalkeepers on the call-up list are Ernando Ari and Nadeo Argawinata. Both of them play an important role in the Garuda team.

Before Maarten Paes came in, Hernando was the main support between the sticks. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has made 13 appearances for the senior team.

On the domestic stage, Ernando is also a mainstay at Persebaya Surabaya. He played a part in helping the team go undefeated in the first four games of Liga 1 2024/2025.

However, Ernando Ari has been absent for the past three weeks due to illness. Since then, Persebaya have struggled to win as they lost twice and drew once.

Just like Ernando, another goalkeeper who has a good record is Nadeo. The Borneo FC goalkeeper has longer experience in the Indonesian national team with a total of 24 senior level appearances.

Nadeo has contributed greatly to Borneo FC’s positive momentum. In the first four games, his team was undefeated and Nadeo only conceded twice.

However, Nadeo missed two games due to a red card. He returned to play against Persita Tangerang and recorded a clean sheet.

The good record of the two goalkeepers of the Indonesian national team means that Maarten Paes’ absence should not be a cause for concern. Although there is still hope that Paes will be fit to play.

Maarten Paes is currently on her way to Bahrain. He is the only player who has not yet joined the Indonesian national team squad who is already in Riffa, Bahrain.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper is expected to arrive at Riffa on Tuesday (8/10) local evening or WIB evening. However, his condition still needs to be confirmed by the Indonesian National Team medical team as he had wrist problems while playing for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Since he officially played for the Indonesian National Team, Maarten Paes has become a staple in the goal. The last two games of the Garuda team were always strengthened by the 192 cm goalkeeper.

The results are very satisfying. Indonesia held Australia and Saudi Arabia to a draw in the first two matches of the third stage of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Therefore, there are high hopes that Maarten Paes will reappear. Because Indonesia faces another important match against Bahrain, Thursday (10/10) and against China, Tuesday (15/10).
