Shardul Thakur’s Life Lessons Help India Avoid Follow-On in World Test Championship Final

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 10, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

London ∙ Shardul Thakur learned to overcome challenges through the lessons of his own life. Shardul’s first challenge was the lack of a ground to practice cricket in the country. Shardul responded by traveling 80 km daily to reach Mumbai and practice. It was these life lessons that helped Shardul overcome the challenge posed by the Australian bowlers yesterday with body line short balls and unexpected bouncers.

The Aussie pacers’ balls hurt Shardul’s body more than five times. Shardul (51) for the 7th wicket with Ajinkya Rahane (89) overcame all of them and saved India from the embarrassment of following on in the World Test Championship final. India were bowled out for 296 runs and conceded a first innings lead of 173 runs.

The Aussies were 123 for 4 in the second innings when play was stopped on the third day. A total lead of 296 runs. Labuchane (41) and Cameron Green (7) are at the crease. Batting in the second innings, Australia lost openers David Warner (1) and Usman Khawaja (13) early on. Warner was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj and Khawaja by Umesh Yadav. It was the Steve Smith-Labuchane partnership for the third wicket that helped Australia to finish the third day without any further injuries, 24 for 2.

Score: Australia 1st innings 469, 2nd innings 123 for 4. India 1st innings 296.

Rahane is the savior

Ajinkya Rahane’s innings proved that neither the 16-month ‘break’ in international cricket nor the IPL hangover affected him. It was Rahane’s resistance that supported the Indian batting, which fell into chaos. India started the third day at 151 for 5 and lost KS Bharat (5) early on. Rahane continued the rescue operation with Shardul Thakur coming after him. Rahane also became the first Indian player to score a half-century in a Test Championship final and the highest score by an Indian player in a Test Championship final yesterday.

no ballWicket!

Twice in the first innings, the Indian batsmen were extended the life of ‘no ball’. Ajinkya Rahane was out in front of the wicket when he was on 17. Shardul Thakur was left lbw in a similar fashion while standing on 36. When the review was taken twice, the ball was no ball! Australian captain Pat Cummins was the bowler on both occasions.

A hat trick Thakur

Shardul Thakur scores a half-century for the third time in a row at the Oval. Shardul scored half-centuries in both innings (57, 60) in the Test match against England in 2021. With a hat-trick half-century, Shardul became the third player to achieve this feat at the Oval.

Australian Bowlers’ Simple Plan Takes Down India’s Top Batsmen in World Test Championship Final

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 9, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

London ∙ The plan of the Australian bowlers who came to defend the first innings score of 469 runs built up by the batters was very simple. Come over the wicket, pitch outside the off stump at a good length and keep throwing in-swingers towards middle stump. But for this plan which could have been neutralized by a forward defence, the price India had to pay was the wickets of their top 3 batsmen!.

When Indian captain Rohit Sharma (15) was trapped in front of the wicket by Australian captain Pat Cummins, Shubman Gill (13) and Cheteshwar Pujara (14) were clean bowled and tried to leave the ball without understanding the line. While Gill was dismissed by Scott Boland and Pujara was dismissed by Cameron Green, Virat Kohli (14) was also out by Mitchell Starc’s unexpected bouncer!.

With that, Indian hopes were almost dashed. Ravindra Jadeja (48), who gave a wicket to Nathan Lion, also reached the pavilion. At the end of the second day, India stood at 151 for 5. India is hoping that the combination of Ajinkya Rahane (29*) and KS Bharat (5*) will help them avoid the follow-on for the 6th wicket. Rahane was dismissed lbw by Cummins on the last ball of the 22nd over. However, Rahane’s life was extended when the ball was found to be a noball in the review.

“The Legendary Life of Sachin Tendulkar: A Journey Through His 50 Years”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 23, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Sachin Tendulkar, the eternal wonder of world cricket, turns 50 today. A journey through the life of a legendary star…

Baby Sachin’s Antics

Baby Sachin was a big mischief at home. Always climbs trees and falls and gets hurt. He would take a small cricket bat and hit the stones and balls and break the windows. Brother Ajith felt that it would be better to divert the energy to something that the party is interested in to stop this mischief. That’s how Ramakant Achrekar, a cricket coach, comes across. When Sachin takes batting practice, Achrekar places a coin on top of the stumps. This is for the bowlers who dismiss Sachin. If he does not get out, this coin will be for Sachin Tendulkar.

He hesitated to beat his brother

Sachin Tendulkar’s brother Ajith is the most influential person in his cricketing career. Sachin describes Ajith, who is 8 years older than Sachin, as a friend and a guide. Sachin also picked up the bat after seeing Ajith playing cricket. Sachin once played against Ajith too. In a single-wicket tournament, Ajith and Sachin faced each other in the semi-finals. Sachin played with the hesitation to beat his brother. Sachin has revealed that Ajith, who understood that, gave him a reprimanding look and then had to win the game.

Eight years of waiting for champagne!

Sachin is a right-handed batsman and bowler in cricket and writes with his left hand. Before going out to bat, the pad on the left foot is tied first. Sachin Tendulkar, who scored his maiden Test century against England at Old Trafford in 1990, could not taste the champagne he received as the man of the match award. Because under 18s were not allowed to taste alcohol in the UK. After eight years, Sachin opened the champagne on his daughter’s first birthday. At the age of 17, he scored a century in Tests, but Sachin’s century in ODIs was delayed again. Sachin scored his first century in the 79th ODI match against Australia in 1994. It was at the age of 21.

He wanted to become a pace bowler

Sachin Tendulkar is a brilliant bowler as well. Sachin Tendulkar has taken 5 wickets in ODI matches 5 times. Remember that Australia’s Shane Warne, West Indies’ Courtney Walsh, Malcolm Marshall and Pakistan’s Imran Khan, who were bowling legends, have not been able to get 5 wickets 5 times! In the last over, Sachin’s bowling was able to stop the opposing team 2 times from the winning target of 6 runs. This was against South Africa in the 1993 Hero Cup and against Australia in the 1996 Titan Cup. Sachin, who wanted to be a pace bowler in his youth, became a world-renowned batsman. However, son Arjun is now one of the pace bowlers of IPL team Mumbai Indians.

Played for Pakistan too!

Sachin Tendulkar has made his debut in international cricket for India and earlier for Pakistan. It was in 1987 at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. Sachin went to field for the Pak team as a substitute in the training match. Sachin made his international debut against Pakistan after 2 years; In the Test held at Karachi on 15 November 1989. Sachin Tendulkar was the ballboy in the 1987 India-Zimbabwe World Cup match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. 24 years later, in 2011, when India won the World Cup at the same ground, Sachin was also in that team.

Sachin’s father

Sachin Tendulkar got married on May 24, 1995 at the age of 23. Pediatrician Dr. Sachin met and met Anjali Mehta for the first time 5 years ago. After marriage, Anjali decided to stop practicing and put her life on hold for Sachin. Both have 2 children; Sara and Arjun. Daughter Sara followed her mother’s path and got active in modeling after getting her medical degree. Son Arjun came to cricket through his father’s path.

Chef Sachin is a tennis lover

After cricket, Sachin’s favorite thing is cooking. Sachin is fond of cooking dishes of various tastes. A favorite dish is large shrimp. Sachin cooks himself and serves it to his family and friends. He also shares such videos on social media. Tennis is Sachin’s favorite sport like cricket. Sachin Tendulkar was an ardent fan of tennis legend John McEnroe in his youth. Like McEnroe, Sachin has grown his hair long and walked around the band.

‘No one has any problem coming to Pakistan; What is the security concern for India alone?’

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 13, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Islamabad – Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has criticized India’s stance of not going to Pakistan for Asia Cup cricket. Najam Sethi asked in the press conference that there is no problem for any other team to come to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup and why only India is so worried about security. The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board said that he will express his position in the meetings of the Asian Cricket Council and the ICC.

“All teams are coming to Pakistan to play. They have no complaints. Why is India alone so concerned about security? If that is the case then we are also concerned about sending our team to India for the ODI World Cup. I will say these things in the coming meetings. We cannot support this position of India, we have to hold the Asia Cup,” said Najam Sethi.

“I have spoken to the government of Pakistan about the current situation. If India doesn’t come for the Asia Cup, but they suggest to go there for the World Cup, what can we do? If they say don’t go, it will be a situation similar to that of India,” said Najam Sethi. The head of the Pakistan Cricket Board clarified his position while the meeting of the International Cricket Council is to be held this month.

India continues to decide not to go to Pakistan for Asia Cup cricket. There is also consideration of shifting India’s matches in Asia Cup to some other venue like UAE. Najam Sethi had earlier threatened that if India did not go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, he would not go to India to play the World Cup.

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

New Delhi ∙ India made a strong comeback in the second cricket test against Australia thanks to the excellence of Ravichandran Ashwin who bowled Marnes Labuschagne and Steve Smith in three balls. In the first session, which the Aussies thought they would win thanks to opener Usman Khawaja’s half-century, Ashwin made India’s favor with a double reverse in one over. When the game was stopped for lunch on the first day, the Aussies were 94 runs for the loss of three wickets in 25 overs. Khawaja (50), who completed his half-century, and Travis Head (1), who returned to the team, are at the crease.

Opener David Warner (15), Marnes Labuchane (18) and Steve Smith (0) were out in the Aussie line-up. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets and Mohammad Shami took one wicket for India. Khawaja and Warner completed a half-century partnership for the Aussies in the opening wicket.

At one stage, standing strong with 91 for one, the Aussies were brought down by Ashwin’s double whammy. Ashwin, who scored 18 runs with four fours in 25 balls, trapped Labusche in front of the wicket and returned Steve Smith (0) after a gap of one ball. After a dull start, opener David Warner, who scored 15 off 44 balls, was dismissed by Mohammed Shami.

Khawaja was trapped at lb by Ravindra Jadeja in the next over, soon after Ashwin’s double, but DRS came to the Aussie’s rescue. Khawaja, who faced 74 balls so far, scored 50 runs with eight fours and a six. Travis Head scored a run off just six balls.

∙ Toss and bowling for Aussies

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat. India went into the second Test in Delhi with one change in the team that played in the Nagpur Test. Shreyas Iyer replaced Suryakumar Yadav in the team. There are two changes in the Aussie line-up. Matt Renshaw was replaced by Travis Head, while Matthew Kuneman made his Test debut. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc is not playing in this Test either.

With the innings win in the first Test, they took a 1-0 lead in the series, but the pressure is more on the Indian camp. India need to win 2 more matches in this series to book their place in the World Test Championship final.

Australia, India’s own spinning company forgets everything it has learned; Now the game is in Delhi

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 12, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Nagpur ∙ ‘The pulse of the Indian pitches is in the spin’ – the lesson that the Australians had in mind before the first Test. They even trained on the spin pitch and made the ‘others’ of the Indian spinners bowl, but they forgot everything on the Nagpur pitch. The Aussies were bowled out for just 91 runs in the second innings in front of Punta Ravichandran Ashwin, who looked fierce like Chacko Mash in the movie Sphatikam. India won by an innings and 132 runs. Taking a 1-0 lead in the series, India also activated the possibility of the World Test Championship final. Second Test from 17th at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.

Scattered on the pitch

The Aussies lost in front of the Indian spinners in batting and bowling. Ravindra Jadeja who took 7 wickets in 2 innings in bowling and 70 runs in India’s first innings in batting is the player of the match. Ashwin took 5 wickets in the second innings and took 3 wickets in the first innings. Batting as a night watchman, he scored 23 runs. After captain Rohit Sharma (120), Akshar Patel (84), the top scorer in the Indian innings, also took a wicket in the second innings. All the three Indian spinners combined have the same number of runs till the first innings of the Aussies – 177!

Akshar Patel, who took the reins from Jadeja, led the Indian batting forward in the first session on the third day from 321 for 7. The Indian innings reached 400 with Mohammad Shami (37 off 47 balls) giving great support to Akshar.

Stumbled on the wicket

All 10 of Australia’s batsmen fell in just 32.3 overs on a pitch where India’s last four batsmen scored 79 runs in 25 overs on the third day. Ashwin, who shared the new ball with Shami, welcomed the visitors who entered the second innings with a deficit of 223 runs. Ashwin gave Aussies a bad signal by returning Aussie openers Usman Khawaja (5) and David Warner (10). India began to dream of victory as Jadeja returned Marnus Labuchane (17), who started well. Steve Smith (25) played from one end but beyond was a procession of wickets. Alex Carey (10) was the only one of the latter to see double figures. In both the innings, the Aussie batsmen made mistakes in facing the balls that came towards the stumps. 15 of India’s 20 wickets were lbw (10) and clean bold (5)!

Finger cream; Penalty to Jadeja

Indian star Ravindra Jadeja was fined after his all-round performance in the first cricket test. Jadeja was fined 25 percent of his match fee for applying cream on his finger while bowling. While bowling in the first innings, footage of Jadeja taking the cream from Siraj’s hand and applying it on his finger was released.

The ICC said in a statement that it is clear that Jadeja applied the cream on his finger for health reasons and that the player did not attempt to tamper with the ball. However, action was taken for using cream without the permission of the field umpire during the match.

Spinning Company of India

R.Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have played together so far in 38 home Test matches, Team India has lost only one. Both of them took 396 wickets in 38 Tests!

Six Shami!

Indian pacer Mohammad Shami surpassed Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh in number of sixes in Test cricket yesterday. With 3 sixes yesterday, Shami’s number of sixes in Tests reached 25. Virat Kohli (24) and Yuvraj Singh (22) were left behind.

Own Warner!

R. Ashwin proved again yesterday that David Warner is his favorite victim in Test cricket. Ashwin dismissed Warner 11 times in the 16 Test matches the two played against each other.
