Indian Coach Rahul Dravid Explains Inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin in ODI Squad

Indian coach Rahul Dravid has given an explanation for the inclusion of Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the ODI squad against Australia. After a long gap, Ashwin will be a part of the Indian ODI team.

After the Indian spinner got a place in the team, many questions were raised from outside. Dravid has come forward with an explanation on this issue.

Dravid said that Ashwin has always been a part of the Indian team and expects him to perform well.

“It’s good to have him back in the team. He is a good bowler and can contribute with the bat as well. He will be with the team if other players get injured. I know he hasn’t played an ODI in recent times. But I believe he can do well,’ said Dravid.

Ashwin replaced Axar Patel who was injured in the Asia Cup tournament. Ashwin last played an ODI for India in January 2022 against South Africa.

He made his ODI debut for India in 2010 and has taken 151 wickets from 113 matches. Fans are hoping that the player will perform well when he is part of the Indian team after a long break.

The matches between India and Australia will be held on September 22, 24 and 27.

Indian squad for ODI series against Australia to be announced this week

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 14, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Mumbai: The Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia, which will be held immediately before the World Cup after the Asia Cup, will be announced this week. Most of the players from the Asia Cup squad and the 15-member squad announced for the World Cup are expected to be in the Indian squad for the ODI series against Australia.

At the same time, in the event of injury to Shreyas Iyer in the World Cup and Asia Cup teams, the fans are waiting to see if the Malayalee player Sanju Samson or the young player Thilak Verma in the Asia Cup team will be considered in the team for the series against Aussies. Shreyas today trained with the Indian team ahead of the final Super Four match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, but the Indian team management is worried about his frequent injuries.

Suryakumar Yadav is in the Asia Cup team and the World Cup team as a back-up even if Shreyas is unable to play. With KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan playing together in the playing eleven, it is believed that Shreyas’ absence will not affect India.

India tried to lose the match against Sri Lanka to give Pakistan work; Akhtar replied to the allegation

Meanwhile, with Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul securing the wicketkeeper position as well as a place in the playing eleven, it is suggested that Sanju’s chances of making it to the squad are slim. If Shreyas is rested, Tilak Varma is more likely to be a left-handed batsman in the middle order. Tilak Verma is in the Asia Cup squad. With the return of KL Rahul, Sanju, who was the traveling stand-by in the Asia Cup team, was sent back. Sanju is currently vacationing in UAE.

BCCI sources indicate that the selectors may not be mature enough to make changes in the world team or give rest to senior players at the threshold of the World Cup. Although the series against Australia is seen as the last opportunity for experiments before the World Cup, there is little chance of changes in the set team. The three-match ODI series against Australia will begin on the 22nd of this month. There are three matches in the series.

Updates on Team Selection for the Indian Squad in the ODI Cricket World Cup

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 4, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Mumbai: The excitement about the Indian team for the ODI Cricket World Cup is heating up. A question is whether the injured wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul will play. Rahul was the first choice wicket keeper in the ODI team. Another question is whether the Malayali star Sanju Samson will make it to the squad. There is no chance of much change in the rest of the cast. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had earlier stated that the squad for the ODI World Cup will be selected from the squad for the Asia Cup. Latest update about Indian team selection is out.

It is reported that KL Rahul, who was in the squad but missed the first two matches of the Asia Cup due to injury, is currently playing a practice match. Rahul did not come to Sri Lanka with the Indian team for the Asia Cup. The BCCI had advised KL Rahul to continue with the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Indian selectors will meet today for World Cup team selection. The preliminary squad for the World Cup will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday. The deadline to announce the preliminary squad is tomorrow, September 5. It is still not clear whether the Malayali player Sanju Samson will make it to the World Cup team. Sanju may sometimes be seen as a stand-by star like in the Asia Cup.

Indian Team for Asia Cup: Rohit Sharma, Subhman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Thilak Verma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Pishth Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (stand-by).

The Asia Cup El Clasico: India vs Pakistan Showdown

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 30, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Asia Cup El Clasico is between India and Pakistan.

The Asia Cup cricket ODI tournament will start today at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The opening match is between Pakistan and Nepal at 3 pm. India’s first match is against Pakistan at Pallekele in Sri Lanka on Saturday.
The Asia Cup has also been subject to its own turmoil over the past six months. At one stage, the tournament looked like a non-starter due to the conflict between the India and Pakistan cricket boards.

Then, the tournament could not afford to literally click the two nations that enriched the folklore of the tournament. Since its inception in 1984, the tournament has grown from three to four to six teams, but remains largely the same as the Copa America. Like Brazil and Argentina in America’s continental football tournament, El Clasico in the Asia Cup is between India and Pakistan.

It is the fixture that also adds luster to the tournament, with both teams regularly battling it out in the same group to ensure at least two encounters. This is a match where spectators spend huge sums of money. This is the highlight of the tournament.
Matches between these two neighbors are limited to ICC events and the Asia Cup. The first of at least three matches between the two countries is scheduled for Saturday. If both teams go far here and in the World Cup, it could be four or five. With India and Pakistan sitting on the cusp of five matches in three months, the arrangement resembles that of football rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in 2011.

While the World Cup is underway, the Asia Cup is a big event for these two giants who are performing well in the showpiece event. Like El Clasico back in the day, there are no underdogs or underdogs here. World No. 1 Pakistan take on Nepal in their Asia Cup opener in Multan, with a front-three as solid as ever, and what Pakistan need to emerge as the team to beat in these conditions is some support from their middle order. As part of their preparations, they were in Sri Lanka two weeks ago to play Afghanistan in three ODIs before returning home to complete the Pakistan leg of the Asia Cup. Overall, they appear to be a more stable unit.

With the World Cup back home, India cut a different chapter in 2011 when it became the first country to lift the World Cup on home soil. As a predecessor, MS Dhoni won the Asia Cup here without Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in the business end of the tournament. But the current situation could spell trouble for this team, with four of the team’s first-choice players returning from long-term injuries and one of them (KL Rahul) already out of the first two matches, so they don’t have much confidence. Rather than using the tournament as a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, India are relying on the tournament to find their best combination and find a consistent batting line-up.

Of course, a good performance in the tournament does not guarantee success in the World Cup, but it could be a sign of things to come. Last year, when the Asia Cup was held in the T20 format ahead of the T20 World Cup, India lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This should have raised alarm bells, but it was seen as a false alarm and England failed to reach the semi-finals. India seems to be in a similar place again.

Saba Karim Discusses Dhawan’s Exclusion from the Indian Team

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 24, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the lucky part of the Indian team until a few days ago. But currently, both of them are not considered in any format of the team, no matter how good they are.

There was a lot of discussion about Dhawan not being considered for the Asia Cup. The actor was a part of the team till last year and performed well. The player has scored 534 runs from Asia Cup ODIs alone. The star has also managed to make a great career with 6,793 runs from 167 matches in ODIs.

Dhawan was the player of the tournament when India last won the Asia Cup in 2018. But former Indian player and selector Saba Karim says that the current conditions will not be easy for Dhawan.

Saba was talking about Dhawan and his dismissal. He says the only thing you can do is understand what’s going on and move on. Saba also says that once the young players start performing well, it will be tough for the senior players to come back.

‘ The end of the journey will be tough, but the game will move on. Not only about Dhawan, you look at Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was once a regular in the team’s playing XI. But today no one even mentions his name. Once a young player enters the team and performs well, it will not be easy for the old match winners to make a comeback. “It’s a reality, but I think every cricketer has to go through it,” Saba said.

Dhawan last played in the Indian jersey in 2022 against Bangladesh. The player was out with three runs off eight balls. India’s first match in the Asia Cup is against Pakistan on September 2.

Dublin ∙ The final match of the India-Ireland 3-match Twenty20 series will be played at The Village Stadium in Dublin today. Having won the first two matches and won the series, India will enter today aiming for a complete victory. Ireland, on the other hand, need to win today’s match to avoid a whitewash. Live on Sports 18 channel from 7.30 pm onwards.

Last lap for India

This is the last Twenty20 match played by Team India before the Asia Cup, Asian Games and World Cup tournaments. So today’s series will be the last chance for the out-of-form players to test their bench strength and regain confidence.

Jitesh Sharma, who has been included in the team as the second wicket keeper, may get a chance to make his debut today. Jitesh is the main wicketkeeper in the Asian Games team. It is likely that Joshu Khan and Shahbaz Ahmed, who did not get a chance in the first two matches in bowling, will be included in the first eleven.
