Mexico City – A large-scale vaccination drive to combat a recent surge in measles cases willโข take place this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the University Olympic Stadium ofโ the National autonomous University of mexico (UNAM). The “mega vaccination center” is a collaborative effort between the โฃMinistry of Health (SSA),โฃ the Mexican Social โขSecurity Institute (IMSS), and other โhealth โunits.
This โinitiative addresses a growing public โคhealth concern, as Mexico has confirmed 4,353 measles cases through epidemiological week 35 of thisโค year. The campaign aims to protect individuals aged six months to 49 years, a โdemographic particularlyโ vulnerableโ to the highly contagious virus. Attendees are requested to bring their National Health Card to facilitate the โขvaccination process. The vaccination center will operate from 9:00 AM to โ3:00 PM โeachโ day. Data from the SSA reveals that Chihuahua currently reports the โขhighest rate of measles notifications. Within the confirmed cases, the 4-year-and-under ageโค group accounts for โ13.5 percent (586 cases), closely followed by the 25-to-29-year-old demographic with 13.3 percent โ(578 โขcases).
Epidemiologicalโ data also indicates โa โขslight prevalence ofโค cases amongโค females, representing 51.9 percent (2,259 cases) of the total, while males account for 48.1 percent (2,094 cases). Health officials emphasize the importance of widespreadโฃ vaccination to curb the spread of measlesโ and prevent further complications.
