Seattle Symphony Premieres โฃ”Stream” Symphony to Standingโข Ovations, Latvian Community Celebrates
SEATTLE, WA – the world premiere of a โsymphonicโฃ work inspired by the animated film โ”stream” (“Straume“) took place last night at Benaroyโฃ Hall inโ Seattle, Washington, performed by the Seattle Symphony orchestra โand met with enthusiastic standing ovations. The โคconcert markedโ the first time music from the acclaimed film has been presented in a symphonic format.
The event drew a significant โcontingent of Latvians from acrossโข the โunited States, with at โขleast 50โฃ of the 2,500 โattendees traveling to Seattle to support โฃdirector Gints โZilbalodis and โcomposer Richard Zalups.โ Zilbalodis and Zalups were invitedโ on stage multiple times to acknowledge the audience’s appreciation. The premiere underscores the growing international recognitionโ of “Stream,” which โhas garnered over 80 awards, including an Oscar and a Goldenโฃ Globeโ nomination.
“This is aโ very special event, as this is the first ‘Stream’ โconcert,” Zilbalodis emphasized. “We โare honored toโข do it directly in Seattle.”
A large inflatable cat, brought from Los Angelesโค by attendee Dฤvisโฃ Rein, became a focal point ofโฃ the evening, symbolizing Latvian unity andโฃ drawing long lines โfor photographs during intermission. โข
“We feelโ like a big familyโ – Latvians support โคeach other here,and this โคis โขespecially important at this time,” one audience member โฃshared.Another attendee remarked,”Itโฃ was worth measuring the long way โfrom Los Angelesโค to be present โat this event.”
