Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in a new standalone โค”Star Trek” movie โcentered on Section 31,Paramount+ announced. The film โคwillโฃ mark a notable expansion of โฃthe character’s storyline,initially developedโฃ in Star Trek: โFinding.
Yeoh, who recently madeโข history โas โคthe first woman of Asian descent to win a Best Actress Oscar for Everything Everywhere All At Once, expressed her excitement aboutโค returning to the role she’s played since the current “Star Trek” revival began. This project offers a dedicated showcase for Georgiou, a โขcomplex character whose journey has captivatedโ fans, and arrives on the heelsโค of a landmark year for Yeoh, both professionally and representationally. Production is slated to โbegin later this year.
According to aโ press release,โค theโ movie โwill followโ Georgiou as she โขjoins Starfleet’s clandestine Section 31 division, taskedโ with safeguarding theโ United federation ofโฃ Planetsโ while confronting her own โขpast. “Toโ see โขher finally get her moment is a dream โฃcome true,” โYeoh stated. “We can’t wait to โคshare what’s in store for you, and until then:โ live long and prosper (unless Emperor georgiou decrees otherwise).”
Everything Everywhere All at Once โearned seven Academy Awards in March, โคincluding Yeoh’s historic win andโฃ the award for Best Picture. The “Section 31” film will exploreโฃ the morally ambiguous world of โthe secretโ division and its impact on the Star Trek universe.
