Mumbai: Actress Chitrangda Singh has revealed โคthe โchallenges she facesโฃ in securing substantial acting roles, citing misconceptions about her location and the lingering impact of her “seductress” image.
Singh expressed a โpreference for โcollaborative work, stating, “I’d rather โคbe sitting with writers in the meantime โคand maybe help put something together and develop something,” she says.
She explained that a โcommon reason for not receiving offersโ is the perception that she doesn’t reside in Mumbai full-time. “One thing I get โtoโข hear โoften is that โฃpeopel think I don’t live in Mumbai. Sometimes they feel like I’m probably betweenโ two cities and they โขare unsure whether I will takeโ up a project orโ not due to that. So, frequently enough they โขdon’t even reach out,”โ she opines. โฃShe also believes the typecasting resultingโ from her earlierโ roles contributed toโค the issue.”I โขgot similarโ kinds of roles offered to me in โdifferent films.โ So โขmaybe that tag alsoโฃ played a part,” she โsays.
Despite acknowledging her past choices,Singh admitted to regrettingโ turning down certain projects. “Every time when I seeโ somethingโ aboutโ those works written, I just feel like going and banging my head somewhere.I wonder what I was thinking and why โdid I have to listen to people?” she confessed. She offered advice to fellow actors, emphasizing the โขimportance of trusting their instincts. “please โฃlisten to your โgut asโค an actor. Don’t listen to any of these wise mindsโข that areโค always giving advice. it’s much better to โlisten โขto yourself than somebody else,” she ended.
