Jakarta – Shell Indonesia is facing a critical fuel โshortage, with only five of its 200 gas stations currently selling gasoline, and those remaining stations are projectedโ to be depleted by Thursday night, October 2, 2025. The company has experienced stock outsโ as โAugust 2025, according to President Director & Managing Director โฃofโ Mobility Shell โฃIndonesia, Ingrid Siburian.
“Atโ the momentโ there may not be up to 10โฆโข only about 5 gasโฃ stations โthat if we see โขtomorrowโฃ night may also be used up.So indeed we realy experience stock out, scarcity for gasoline type fuel,” Siburian statedโข during a โคhearing with the House ofโข Representatives Commission XII on Wednesday, October โ1, โข2025.
Shell had requested an additional importโ quota โคin โคJune 2025 to meet rising consumer demand. However, import restrictions imposed by the government are hindering their abilityโฃ to โขreplenish supplies. โฃ
According โto an official letter from the Deputy Minister of energy and Mineral Resources dated โฃJuly 17, 2025,โฃ imports are currently limited to only 10% above sales from 2024.
Following coordinationโฃ meetingsโ with the Ministry โof โEnergy and โMineral Resources, aโ decision was reached for Pertamina Patra Niaga toโฃ provide Shell with base fuel. Siburianโ expressed appreciation โfor this โคarrangement, โstating, “And of courseโ this decision isโ appreciated, because this isโ indeed one of โฃour concerns.”
