Englewoodโ Health Surgeon Resigns Following Controversy Over Comments on Charlie Kirk shooting
Englewood,โข NJ โฃ- A surgeon at Englewood Health has resigned following aโข controversy sparked by alleged comments made regarding theโ shooting of conservative activist Charlie โฃKirk.Dr. Matthew jung’s departure comes after a lawsuit was filed by a nurse alleging discrimination based on religious beliefs, โstemming from her โcriticism ofโ Jung‘s allegedโฃ reaction to theโค September 10th shooting.
The lawsuit, filed inโข Bergen County, alleges that nurse Keunzle questioned whether jung’sโฃ response to the shooting – reportedly offering โคto buy lunch for the nursing staff – was consistent withโ the Hippocratic Oath and the American Medical Association’sโฃ Code ofโ Medical Ethics. Keunzle identified Kirk as “a Christian โleading figure.”
Keunzle โขclaims she wasโ suspended without payโข after her online comments, shared on Instagram, came to the attention โคof the hospital’s humanโ resources department. She alleges the suspension constituted discrimination due to her Christianโ beliefs.
Englewood Health released a statement acknowledging the situation, stating, “As this is a personnel matter with an ongoing examination, we are limited in the details we can share.โ Englewood โขHealth remains committed to ensuring a respectful, safe, and professional environment for โฃall employees and patients.”
Attempts to reach Dr. Jung have been unsuccessful. His contact page onโค theโฃ Englewood Health website and his LinkedIn profile โขhave both been removed.โ Online reviews of Jung have appeared on websites like WebMD following the incident.
The shooting โof Charlie Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University on September 10th, and the subsequent arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, have fueled โขconcerns about escalating political violence. Robinson is currently not cooperating with โคinvestigators, according โto Utah Governor spencer Cox.
