Local Hospital Terminates Nurse Over Antisemitic Social Media Posts
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A local hospital has fired a nurse after antisemitic posts surfaced online,prompting concern within the Jacksonville Jewish community. The hospital confirmed the termination,stating the views expressed were “in opposition to our organization’s mission to care for and improve human life,and conflict with the core values of our hospital.”
The incident underscores growing anxieties about antisemitism and its potential impact on everyday experiences, including healthcare. Local Jewish leaders expressed sadness and disappointment, emphasizing the expectation of compassion and care within the medical profession.
rabbi Shmuli Novack, director at Chabad Jacksonville, Town center, and UNF, described the situation as “tragic and sad,” adding, “And certainly in the medical profession, we expect a lot more.” He noted the concern among Jewish residents about feeling safe and respected when seeking medical attention.
The Florida Department of Health stated it cannot confirm or deny any investigation into the matter at this time.
