A store in Yiwu International Trade City revealed that nearly 300,000 “facekinis” with brims have been sold so far. According to data from e-commerce platforms, consumers in Guangdong, Beijing, and Jiangsu spend the most on sunscreen products. The recent sales of sunscreen clothing, sunscreen masks, and sunscreen ice sleeves have all increased by more than 50% month-on-month. In addition, the turnover of new sunscreen products in the clothing category increased by 180% year-on-year.

According to a BCC report, “facekini” was formed by swimmers in Qingdao by combining the words “face” and “bikini” to describe the sunscreen mask they wear when sunbathing on the beach.
