Stampede Fall to Fargo 5-2 After Second-Period โSurge
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Siouxโข falls Stampede’s four-game winning streak was broken Friday night as they lostโข 5-2 to theโข fargo Force in their frist home โขgame in nearly a month.
The game began with a slow first period, punctuated by offsides and icing calls. Fargo broke the scoreless tieโ at 14:37 whenโ Brooks Cullen scored, โฃgiving the โขForce a 1-0 lead. Despite a subsequent tripping penalty against Fargo, the Stampede โคwere unable โคto capitalize โon the power play.Fargo led in โขshots 11-9 after the first frame.
The second period saw a important shift in โmomentum for Fargo. They quickly extended their lead to 2-0 โless โขthan a minute into the periodโข and then to โฃ3-0 shortlyโฃ after with a goal that deflected off the post. Theโข Stampede challenged theโฃ goal, but the call stood. Sioux Falls responded at 8:26 with a goal fromโข Brock Schultz, assistedโ by Joey Macrina andโค Brent โขsolomon.However, Fargo answered late in the period, scoring after a scramble inโข the crease with Jack Torr credited with the goal, โขmaking it 4-1. Fargo outshot the Stampede 9-6 inโค the second.
Schultz scored againโ early in the third period at 4:23, โฃassistedโ once more by Macrina, bringing the score โคto โข4-2. The โStampede successfully โkilled off aโ tripping penalty called against Dane Sorensen laterโค in theโ period. With just over three minutes remaining, Sioux Falls pulled goaltender Linards Feldbergs โฃfor an extra attacker, but Fargo capitalized on the โempty net โฃwith under 30 secondsโฃ left, securing a 5-2 victory. The Stampede outshot โFargo 14-7 in โtheโ final period.
Feldbergs finished the night with an 11-5-1-0 record on the season, a 2.40 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage.
The Stampede return to the PREMIER โCenter on Friday to host Team USA NTDP for their annual Teddy Bear โฃToss โคgame. Fans are encouraged to throwโฃ a teddyโ bear onto the ice after the Herd scoreโ their first goal.
