Paramedics and a helicopter were dispatched to the Buckinghamshire villa of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne in a desperate two-hour attempt to save his life. The legendary “Voice of Black Sabbath” passed away at 76.

The somber events unfolded Tuesday morning, beginning with a call from Welder House, Osbourne’s residence. Neighbors in Jordans reported seeing a helicopter land, signifying the seriousness of the situation.
A Stirring Farewell in Birmingham
The death of the “godfather of Heavy Metal” has deeply affected fans and fellow musicians. In his hometown of Birmingham, hundreds gathered at significant sites associated with Black Sabbath, including the Crown Pub and the Bull at Birmingham New Street station.
Industry Mourns a Legend
Tributes flooded in from across the music world. Guitarist Tony Iommi lamented, “There will be no other like him.”
The WHO dedicated a performance to Osbourne during their Milan concert, while Elton John hailed him as “a great pioneer who has ensured a place in the Pantheon of the Rock gods.”
Alice Cooper offered a poignant reflection: “During his long career, he earned immense respect among his colleagues and fans from all over the world, such as Showman and unparalleled cultural icon. I have always seen Ozzy as an intersection between the Prince of darkness, who is the character that his fans saw, and a court jester.”
Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Billy Idol, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Aerosmith, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Yungblud, and Duran Duran also paid their respects. Duran Duran shared: “Difficult to imagine a world without him, Ozzy brought so much joy, humor and pure power in the world, in a life made of many chapters. Ozzy was a guy who had a lot more than nine lives.”
Osbourne himself had expressed a wish for his funeral not to be a somber occasion, stating in a past interview, “I don’t want my funeral to be sad, I want it to be an opportunity to say thanks.”
The date for the funeral has not yet been announced.
