Fluโข Vaccination Campaign Underway in Ciudad Real, Prioritizing Early Immunization
Ciudad Real, Spain – The annual flu vaccination campaign is now active throughout the province of Ciudad Real, with a critically important portion – โขapproximately one-third – of the 600,000 doses purchased by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha allocated to the region. Health officials are urging residents to get โฃvaccinated promptly to minimizeโ hospitalizationsโฃ and safeguard vulnerable populations.
Nurseโฃ Susana Pรฉrez, from โthe โDaimielโ 2 Specialty Center, emphasized the collective benefit of widespread vaccination. “Protecting ourselves also protects โคthose around us,” she stated, โฃexplaining thatโค higher vaccination rates correlate with reduced hospital admissions, leading to more efficient healthcare resource allocation and better outcomes, particularly for at-risk individuals.
The campaign is โขscheduled to run through March 31,2026,however,officials strongly recommend receiving the vaccine as โคsoon as possible, ideally before the Christmas holiday season. Pรฉrez โnoted that the peak of flu activity typically occurs approximatelyโ two weeks following the holidays.
This year’s vaccine is trivalent, offering protection against three โidentified strains of the influenza virus. It is indeed being administered at local health centersโ and clinics throughout the province.Specific attention is being givenโ to a reinforced โขvaccine formulation for individuals aged 60 to 65.
Beyond this age group, theโ campaign’s target โคpopulation includes household contacts and caregivers of infants under six months of age, as well as staff working in childcare facilities and pharmacies.
Nurse Pรฉrez encouraged residents to proactively schedule appointments at their local health center,โ assuring them that appointment availability is currently good. “The scheduling โฃsystem is very active, so wait times for appointments are minimal,” she said.
The campaign follows the earlier rollout of flu vaccinations for children, which began on October 1st.
