China hasโ launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of US-made analogue integrated circuitโ (IC) chips, the Ministryโฃ of Commerceโ announced Saturday.โ The probe was initiated at theโข request ofโ the Jiangsu provincial semiconductor association, representing domesticโ industries impacted by the imports, and comes just beforeโข scheduled trade talks between Chinese and US delegations in Madrid, โSpain.
The investigation will focus on commodity interfaceโ IC chips andโ gate drive IC โคchips, examining potential harmโ to chinese industry betweenโข 2022 and 2024. โAccording to the โฃMinistry of โขCommerce,โ preliminary evidence suggests import volumes of the targeted US products rose 37% fromโ 2022 to 2024, while importโข prices fell 52% during the same period.
“This has โlowered โขand suppressed theโค salesโ prices of domestic products and caused damage toโฃ the production โฃand operation ofโข domestic industries,” the Ministry stated.โฃ The โinvestigation will โdetermineโข if these imports constitute dumping โคand are causing material injury to Chinese chip manufacturers.
