Doha – As part of the Geneva International Motor Show, which is being held for the first time in the Arab region, a five-member group drove 8,000 km of electric vehicles from Geneva to Doha to raise awareness about environmental protection.

The journey started from Geneva on August 28 and reached Doha on September 30 after 34 days. The group traveled about 8,000 km in 2 electric Volkswagen ID bus cars. The trip also aimed to educate the public about eco-friendly electric vehicles. The name of the trip was Tour the Excellence. The vehicles were emblazoned with the Geneva Motor Show logo.

Overcoming challenges including severe heat and lack of electric vehicle charging units, they reached Doha by traveling through 12 countries including Europe, Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. 26 different vehicle charging apps had to be used for charging. The team that reached Doha received a warm welcome. Rinspeed AG CEO Frank M. Rindernecht and Challenge 4D owner Rainer Zeitlo led the trip.

This is the first time the Geneva International Show has been held outside Switzerland since 1905. The Tour The Excellence journey is part of the Motor Show. The motor show will be held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from 5th to 14th of this month. It is in partnership with 31 world-class automobile brands. Public access is from 7 to 13. As part of the motor show, many events are organized across the country.
