Jacksonvilleโ Jaguars Trade Tyson Campbell to Cleveland โฃbrowns for Greg Newsome II
The Jacksonville โJaguars andโ Cleveland Browns haveโค agreed to a trade involving cornerbacks, NFL Network reported Wednesday night.Jacksonville is sending Tyson Campbell and aโข 2026 seventh-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Greg Newsome II and a โข2026 sixth-round selection.
This โฃmove arrives approximately six months afterโฃ the Browns traded โขthe โขNo.2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to theโ Jaguars, who afterward drafted Travis hunter – another cornerbackโฃ and wideโข receiver. The trade reshapes both teams’ cornerback rooms ahead of the 2025 season, providing โJacksonville with a potentiallyโ more โaffordable โoption in Newsome while the Browns gain a proven starter in Campbell.
Newsome, a 2021 first-round pick,โ has started every gameโ for the Browns โthis season andโฃ is entering theโ final year of his rookie contract, โwith a $13.3 million salary due โคin 2024 after โhis fifth-year option was exercised. Campbell, selected โฃin theโข same draft class (33rd second โฃround) just seven spotsโ after Newsome (26th overall), signed a four-year, $76 million extension with the Jaguars inโค the summer of 2024, carrying a $10.5 million cap number and $13.1 million in guaranteed salaryโฃ for 2026.
The tradeโค comes after the Browns recently moved โveteran quarterback Joe Flacco toโ the Cincinnati Bengals, signaling continued roster adjustments by Cleveland general Manager Andrew Berry. While Newsome was draftedโค by Berry,Campbell was not โขselected by current Jaguars GM James Gladstone.
