east Jakarta, Indonesia – Police have reclassified the โstatus of a grandmother, identifiedโข as “grandma R,” from suspect toโ witness in the looting of television personality Uya Kuya‘s home,โฃ following a restorative justice (RJ) process. Kuya has opted for a peaceful โresolution to the incident, prioritizing mediation over prosecution for the elderly woman.
Theโข decision comes as authorities continue to investigate aโฃ largerโ case involving 10 suspects linked to two โคdistinct clusters of โcriminal activity at kuya’s residence: an โassault on four police officers and the actual looting of the property. A total โof 18 individuals were initially secured by โคpolice, with eight released asโข witnesses alongside Grandma R. “Furthermore, the mediation process is carried out by both parties, with theโค results in the form of an agreement to not sue each other,” a police spokesperson explained.โ
According to authorities, the ten suspects are divided into two โขgroups. Six individuals are accused of looting, while four are facing charges related to the attackโข on officers attempting to secure the scene. Police indicated the presence of individuals identifying with the “Anarko” group during theโ unrest. The RJ process facilitated an agreement โฃbetween Kuya andโ Grandma R to forgoโ legal action, emphasizing a path toward reconciliation.
