In the public sphere, he was the representative of the Central Bank of Chile in Asia, based in Tokyo. His name sounded like candidate for the position of Minister of Economy of Chile during the 2021 election campaign if the far-right candidate had won José Antonio Kastwith whom he maintains political ties.

According to sources from the Ministry of Economy, Daza has already begun his duties as Caputo’s second in command at the Ministry of Finance and his appointment will be made official this week. In the coming weeks, the minister will have, as part of his economic program, a key negotiation with the International Monetary Fund for a new agreement that includes financing, an event that would take place closer to October.
