Spartans Fall to Wyoming After Fourth-Quarter Collapse, Kicking Struggles

Laramie, ‌WY ⁤- The San Jose State‌ Spartans (3-5) suffered ‍a heartbreaking 35-28 loss to the Wyoming Cowboys⁢ (5-3) Saturday, undone ⁢by a late-game defensive collapse and continued kicking woes. The defeat marks the spartans’ third consecutive game giving⁤ up important points in the fourth quarter, ‌totaling 39 over the last three contests (14 to Wyoming, 11 ‌to New ⁤Mexico,‍ and 16 to stanford).

The game began promisingly for San Jose State, fueled ‍by a ⁤dominant first half from wide receiver‌ Danny Scudero. He recorded 10 receptions for 180 yards and all four of his⁢ touchdown catches within the first 19 minutes of play,⁣ bringing ‌his FBS-leading receiving‌ yardage ‌total to 845 yards. However, Wyoming adjusted ‌its ⁢defensive coverage, switching from man-to-man to zone,‍ effectively slowing Scudero ‍down. He finished the game with six ⁢drops, including one on ⁣a crucial third-and-8 in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Beau Eget, who⁢ accounted for all 28 of⁤ the Spartans’ points, was absent for portions of ⁤the game.Backups Ward (3-for-10, 15 yards, 1 interception returned ‌for a touchdown) and tama Amisone (5-for-8, 30 yards, 13-yard rush) struggled to move the offence effectively‍ during⁤ Eget’s absence.

“I ⁤thought he did some good things,” Head Coach Brent Niumatalolo said of Amisone. “A couple⁤ of his balls were a little low but I thought he‍ made some good decisions.”

The Spartans’ defense faltered in the‌ final minutes. Trailing ⁢28-21 ⁣with 4:42⁢ remaining,Wyoming capitalized on a pass interference and roughing the passer penalty to⁣ gain 30 yards. Kaden Anderson then connected ‌with Charlie Coenen for a 45-yard touchdown to tie the game. ⁣Wyoming sealed the victory ⁣with a late drive, highlighted by a 52-yard screen pass to Samuel Harris and a 28-yard touchdown run by Terron Kellman.‌

SJSU has allowed nine conversions on‍ ten fourth-down attempts over the last ‍three games, but Wyoming converted a critical fourth-and-5 in the fourth⁤ quarter before⁣ the tying touchdown.

Adding to the Spartans’‌ struggles, their kicking game ⁣remains a significant liability.Mathias ⁢Brown missed both of his collegiate⁣ field goal‍ attempts (from 53 and 47 yards), bringing the team’s season total to 4-of-12 on field goals. Brown replaced Denis‍ Lynch, who was 4-for-10⁣ on the season.

“You make one of those early on you’re up three scores, the game feels totally different,” Niumatalolo said. “(Mathias) and⁤ Denis are ‍all we got so they just got to keep working.”

Al Horford Warriors Salary: Celtics Veteran’s New Deal Revealed

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor September 20, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Al Horford Expected to Earn $5.7 Million with Golden⁣ State ⁤Warriors

Boston, MA – Al ⁣Horford’s departure from the Boston ⁣Celtics is nearing finality, and now fans have a clearer picture of his financial future with the Golden State ‍Warriors.⁤ According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams⁢ Charania, via ⁣MassLive’s Brian Robb, Horford is ‌expected to receive‌ the taxpayer mid-level exception – projected at $5.7 million⁤ for the 2025-26 NBA season – once the Warriors resolve a contract situation with forward Jonathan Kuminga.

Reports suggest a resolution to the Kuminga‍ impasse is‍ imminent, paving the way⁣ for Horford to officially join the Warriors and conclude his‌ impactful‍ tenure ‌in Boston.

The‍ Celtics’ decision ‍appears to be driven by financial considerations. As the team navigates the ⁤complexities of the NBA’s second apron, offering Horford a ‍contract of ⁢that size was likely unsustainable, notably as ⁤they explore options to retool the roster around star⁢ forward Jayson Tatum.

Horford’s move to Golden State represents a new chapter for the veteran big man, while the Celtics continue to shape their‍ future.

SEO ⁢Considerations:

* ‍ Keywords: ‌ “Al Horford,” “Boston Celtics,” “golden State Warriors,” “NBA,” “salary,” “Contract,” “Taxpayer‌ Mid-Level Exception”
*⁢ Headline: Clear, ⁢concise, and includes key search terms.
* Internal Linking: (If applicable within world-today-news.com, would add links to other Celtics/Warriors coverage)
* Meta ⁣Description: (Would write a compelling meta description incorporating keywords for search engine results)
* Image: (Would include a relevant image of Al⁣ horford with ⁢appropriate alt text)

3 Spurs Trade Targets to Boost 2025-26 NBA Season Outlook

by Emma Walker – News Editor September 17, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Spurs Eye Trio of ⁤Veterans to Accelerate Contention Window

San Antonio, TX – As the ‍san ‌Antonio Spurs navigate a Western conference brimming with talent, the front office is actively monitoring potential trade opportunities to bolster their roster around Victor Wembanyama, sources indicate. While committed to the⁣ advancement of their young core, the Spurs ‌recognize the need to add⁤ proven⁢ veterans who⁤ can contribute instantly and accelerate their‌ climb toward contention.Three ‌players, in particular, have⁢ emerged‌ as key targets: Jerami ‍Grant, Brandon‍ Ingram, and Malcolm Brogdon.

The Spurs enjoyed a strong, yet measured, ⁤offseason, retaining key players and adding depth. Though, ⁢the competitive landscape of the West demands further action. The team aims to strike a balance between patience and ambition, potentially leaning towards a more aggressive approach this season.

Jerami Grant⁢ (Portland Trail Blazers): Defensive Versatility and offensive Punch

Jerami Grant stands ⁢out as a particularly attractive target. His defensive adaptability – capable of guarding ⁣positions two through four – would be a important asset alongside Wembanyama, forming ⁤a potentially intimidating defensive pairing.Offensively,Grant offers more than just‍ spot-up shooting. He can attack closeouts and create⁢ his own ‌shots, immediately establishing himself as a reliable third option alongside Wembanyama and ⁤Keldon Johnson.

“Grant’s ability to step up in big‌ moments is underrated,” one⁤ source ⁢noted. He has demonstrated throughout his career with Detroit, Denver, and Portland that he can handle an expanded role when needed, and his experience ‍playing alongside high-usage stars would facilitate a⁣ seamless integration into the Spurs’ system.⁢ Acquiring Grant would require strategic financial maneuvering, but San Antonio‌ possesses the necessary contracts and draft capital to make a deal‍ feasible. While not⁣ necessarily a long-term cornerstone, he represents ⁤a valuable ”bridge‌ player” who can aid in the development of the Spurs’ ⁣young stars while contributing to a winning culture.

Brandon Ingram (New Orleans Pelicans): Two-Way star with Upside

Brandon Ingram presents a higher-investment option, but one with potentially greater reward. A proven scorer and improving defender, Ingram’s skillset complements Wembanyama’s unique abilities. His ability to create his own shot and‍ operate in isolation would alleviate pressure on Wembanyama and open up the floor⁤ for others.‌

Malcolm Brogdon (Boston Celtics): Veteran Playmaking and Shooting

Malcolm Brogdon offers ‍a different profile – a seasoned point guard known for his efficient shooting and ⁣playmaking. ⁤ Brogdon’s experience and basketball IQ would provide a steadying presence in the backcourt‍ and enhance the Spurs’ offensive ‌flow. He’s a proven ⁤veteran capable of contributing in multiple facets of⁤ the game.

The Spurs ⁣will enter the 2025-26 season competitive, but not ‌yet among the top contenders in the West. Monitoring thes trade opportunities will be critical. ‍ Players like Grant, Ingram, and Brogdon all offer the potential to‍ elevate ⁤the Spurs’ ceiling while remaining ‍aligned ⁤with Wembanyama’s long-term trajectory.

Jonathan Kuminga’s Contract Stalls as Warriors Insist on Team Option

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor September 15, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Golden State Warriors⁢ forward Jonathan Kuminga has reportedly turned ⁣down a recent‍ contract ⁣extension offer from the‍ team, creating a standstill⁢ in ‌negotiations, according to ESPN’s Adrian‍ wojnarowski.The offer’s details⁣ weren’t disclosed, but the rejection signals potential complications⁣ in retaining the young player⁢ long-term.

Kuminga, 21, is entering his fourth NBA season and is eligible for a rookie extension before the October 23 deadline.⁣ The Warriors view Kuminga as⁤ a⁣ key component of their⁢ future, having selected him seventh overall in the 2021 NBA draft. His advancement is crucial as Golden⁣ State⁢ navigates a transition period following⁤ the ‍end of its championship core’s‌ dominance. ‌Failure⁣ to reach ⁣an agreement could lead to kuminga entering restricted free agency next summer, ⁣where⁤ other teams could make competing offers.

Wojnarowski reported that negotiations are ongoing,⁣ but the gap between Kuminga’s expectations and the Warriors’ valuation remains ⁤notable. The team has ⁣already extended Andrew Wiggins and draymond Green this offseason, perhaps⁢ impacting ‌their financial adaptability regarding Kuminga’s demands. Kuminga averaged 13.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 66⁤ games last season, showcasing flashes⁤ of the potential that prompted his high⁣ draft selection.
