Detroit โTowing Company Accused of Predatory Practices
DETROIT, MI – A Detroit towing company, allegedlyโ operated by Mike Goch, is โfacing accusations from former competitors โคof illegally soliciting tows fromโ accident scenes. The allegations, brought to light by WXYZ’s Ross Jones, center around โclaims that the company actively soughtโ out business at crashes before beingโ officially dispatched by authorities.
The accusations raise concerns about potential exploitation of drivers during vulnerable moments and the fairness of the local towingโข industry.โค If substantiated, the practices could violate city ordinances and potentially state law, impacting both โขaccident victims and legitimate โคtowing services. Anโ investigation is ongoing, with โauthorities attemptingโ to verify whether Goch received a citation โคfor the alleged behavior.
Accordingโฃ to a Detroit Police Department spokesperson, a ticket was sent to Goch via โcertified mail, but a search โขof 36th district Court records did not reveal an active case under his name.
“The onlyโ person or people telling you this are disgruntled employees who work for our competitors,” โฃGoch stated when confronted with the allegations by WXYZ.
Though, Jones countered, “That’s not true. The companies aren’t disgruntled former employees, they had their vehicle in โan accident. The police aren’tโข disgruntledโฃ former employees, โthey’re here to try to enforce the law.they’reโ saying you’re soliciting tows.”
Goch vehemently denied the claims, repeatedly stating, “It’s not true, we’re not soliciting tows. It’s simply notโฃ true.”
The investigation remains active. Anyone with details related to this case is encouraged โtoโ contact Rossโ Jones at ross.jones@wxyz.com โขor (248) 827-9466.
