Malaysia Airlines Adds 3rd Kuala Lumpur-Doha Flight for Summer 2026

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor February 21, 2026
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Malaysia Airlines will expand its service between Kuala Lumpur and Doha with the addition of a third daily non-stop flight, beginning June 30, 2026. The increased frequency brings the total number of weekly flights on the route to 21, responding to growing demand for travel between Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The new flight is intended to bolster connectivity through Hamad International Airport in Doha, a major global hub operated by Qatar Airways. Passengers will have increased options for onward travel to destinations in Europe, Africa, and the Americas, according to a statement released by Malaysia Airlines. This expansion builds on an existing partnership between the two airlines, allowing for seamless transfers and a wider network of destinations for travelers.

The Kuala Lumpur-Doha route has become increasingly popular, particularly for passengers traveling from Southeast Asia to Europe and North America, facilitated by the cooperation between Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways. The additional daily service aims to accommodate both leisure and business travelers, offering greater flexibility in scheduling, as noted in a press release from BusinessToday Malaysia.

Qatar Airways’ position as a leading global airline is expected to complement the increased Malaysia Airlines service. Hamad International Airport provides a key transit point for passengers connecting between continents. The partnership allows passengers to leverage the combined networks of both carriers, enhancing travel options and convenience.

The expansion is also anticipated to have a positive economic impact on both Malaysia and Qatar. Increased tourism and business travel are expected to contribute to growth in both countries, fostering trade and investment opportunities. The added flight capacity is expected to support the growing number of multinational companies operating in Doha, providing more convenient travel options for corporate clients.

Malaysia Airlines operates Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the Kuala Lumpur-Doha route, offering a range of cabin classes to cater to different passenger preferences. The airline has not yet announced specific details regarding the schedule for the new flight, but further information will be released in the coming months.

The increased connectivity comes as global travel continues to recover and airlines adjust their route networks to meet evolving demand. Malaysia Airlines’ move reflects a broader trend towards strengthening international partnerships and expanding services on key routes.
