Municipal Employee in Gironde Sanctioned for Falsifying Work Accident
Bordeaux, France – A municipal employee in Gironde has received a definitive two-year suspension following confirmationโ by โthe Bordeaux โขAdministrative courtโค of Appeal on September 16th, for โขfabricatingโ a โworkplace accident. The case, dating backโ to 2017, involved the โคemployee โfalsely claiming โa sprain sustainedโข while operatingโ a mower tractor during work duties.
The agent, a versatile employee handling maintenance, canteen work, and green spaces, โฃreportedโ the injury, enablingโฃ continued full salary during sick leave. Though,a subsequent โคinvestigation revealed โthe injury actually occurred at her home,in her garden.โ
The town hall initially acknowledged “accountability in โthe service” regarding the accident butโ laterโฃ filed โa complaint against the employee for “false statement” after inconsistencies โคemerged. The investigation further uncovered a colleague who provided false witness statements, admitting to investigators he “played the game” to assist his coworker. โTestimony โขfromโฃ an elected โofficial corroborated โฃthat the employeeโฃ and โcolleague were not working in the same location โat the time of theโข alleged incident.
While the town initially imposed a two-year suspension for the employeeโค andโ a six-month suspension for her accomplice, these sanctions โขwere initially overturned by the Bordeaux administrative court โฃdue to procedural errors. The municipality appealed, and the Administrative Courtโ of Appeal ultimately ruled in โคtheir favor, upholding the original two-year suspension for โtheโค employee.
