A group of retired soldiers is pressing for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) to address their call for the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The Forum of Retired TNI Soldiers has set a deadline for the DPR’s response, raising questions about political stability and the role of the military.

Deadline Looms for DPR Action

A representative from the Forum of Retired TNI Soldiers, Dwi Cahyo Suwarsono, confirmed the deadline. Feri Amsari, a Constitutional Law Expert, indicated the DPR’s response is critical to demonstrating respect for public sentiment. He asserted that the DPR-MPR is the only avenue for impeaching Gibran.

Stalled Response from Parliament

Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, stated that the DPR leadership has not yet received the impeachment letter. Puan Maharani, Chairwoman of the DPR, also confirmed she had not seen the letter, which is currently held by the General Secretariat. Meanwhile, Ahmad Muzani, Chairman of the MPR, also stated he had not received any updates.

The Forum of Retired TNI Soldiers initially sent their letter on June 2, 2025, detailing their case for Gibran‘s removal. They cited concerns regarding his nomination process and suitability for the role.
