TOYOTA, JAPAN – Ghana international Francis Abu has successfully undergone surgery to repair fractures sustained during a recent match against Japan, the Ghana Football Association announced today.
The midfielder suffered fractures to two bones during the game and was immediately hospitalized at Toyota Memorial Hospital. Following swift coordination between Black Stars head of medical Dr. Prince Pambo, representatives from Abu’s club, Toulouse FC, and the surgical team in Japan, the procedure was completed successfully, and the initial stage of his rehabilitation has begun.
This positive growth marks a crucial first step in Abu’s recovery, with the GFA prioritizing his return to full fitness. To support his intensive physiotherapy during this critical acute phase, a dedicated physiotherapist will remain with the player. Further, arrangements are underway for a senior member of the Black Stars technical team to accompany Abu back to his club base in France upon his discharge from the hospital.
