The club confirmed the injury earlier today, marking a setback for the 21-year-old left-back.
Manager Hansi Flick is reportedly placing his trust in Martin, 23, to fill the void left by Balde’s absence. Flick previously demonstrated faith in Martin last season when Balde suffered an injury, and the young defender has reportedly used that experience to improve his preparation for the current season.
While Martin experienced both positive moments and setbacks during his opportunities last season, he has impressed Flick during pre-season, even being trialed as a central defensive option due to a lack of left-footed players in that position.
