Rising Cardiacโ Arrests in Young โAdults Raise Health Concerns in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – A disturbing trend of sudden cardiac deaths among young people in Andhraโ Pradesh is prompting urgent calls for increased awareness, preventative care, and comprehensive health screenings. Recent months have seen a seriesโฃ of tragic incidents involving individuals with no known prior health โคconditions, sparking โคconcern among medical professionals and the public alike.
The cases span a diverse demographic, from students to working professionals. In January, 28-year-old Kommalapati Saikumar, a software engineer from Angaluru in Krishna district, tragically died after collapsing during a cricket game. Just last month, on Mayโ 6th, Pavan Kumar, 35, was found deceased in his room in โMadhura Nagar, with cardiac arrest listed as the cause of death.
The โฃimpact isn’t limited to working adults. A 15-year-old girl in Korrapadu, Kadapa, succumbed to sudden cardiac arrest โshortly after completing her SSCโฃ exam on March 19th.โ Similar incidents haveโฃ been โreportedโข in Palnadu, where a 17-year-old died last year, and in Maheshwaram, Hyderabad, where a young tech professional collapsed whileโ exercising.
Dr. Lakshmi Navya, aโ Consultant โขCardiologist at Manipal Hospitalsโข in Vijayawada, explains โคthat โsudden cardiac death is definedโ as โthe abrupt cessationโฃ of all life activities within one hour, frequently resulting from severe heart attacks or hazardous heartโ rhythm abnormalities known as ventricular arrhythmias.
“While someโ cases are linked to genetic predispositions,” Dr. Navyaโฃ stated,โ “a significant number are attributable to lifestyle factorsโ – including smoking, chronic stress, insufficient sleep, and a โpoor diet.” โ
Medical experts emphasize the interplay betweenโ factors individuals can’t change, such as hereditary lipid disorders, and those they can โ control, like hypertension, obesity, and unhealthy lifestyle choices.โค The increasing frequencyโ of these events is โฃno longer considered a series โof isolated incidents, but ratherโข a โworrying escalation of a public health issue.
“the fact that โyoung, seemingly healthy individuals โขare collapsing during everyday activities is aโค stark warning,” Dr. Navya emphasized. “This underscores the critical need for โregular cardiac screenings, increased public awarenessโค regarding risk factors, and a proactive approach to โpreventative healthcare.”
