“Sub Scriptum” Channels โขEarly 20th Century Gangster Styleโ in New Music Video
Latvian band “Sub Scriptum” has released a striking new music video โฃfor their song “tev, tev, tev,โ tev,” drawing heavily from the visual language of early 20th-century โคgangster films. The clip, filmed at Cinevilla Studio, aims for an authentic and immersive aesthetic, utilizing costumes, cinematography, and location choicesโ to evoke the era.
Theโ video’s โcreation was a collaborative and fluid process,โข led โby director Ritvars Bluka โand Jฤnis Skฤbo. They embraced an improvisational approach, allowing the visual narrative and shot โคcomposition to evolve organically duringโค filming. This โคmethod, according to Bluka, resulted in a unique and engaging experience for viewers, maintaining a sense of intrigue throughout.
The song’s lyrics, penned by “Sub Scriptum” vocalist Kristers Rudzฤซtis,โ reinforce the video’s thematic focus on the present moment: “There is no such right time and place, everything we own is right here and now.” Arnis Rachinskis handled the production andโข mixing of theโ music, whileโค actress Ausma Anna Celmarauga portrays a central figure – a fortune tellerโ – within the video’s narrative. Bluka โemphasized the band’sโ opennessโฃ to creative input, stating that the visuals are designed to be both easily understood โคandโค powerfully memorable.
This new single and accompanying video represent a significant step in “Sub Scriptum’s” artistic evolution, demonstrating their commitment to pairing compelling music wiht strong visual storytelling. The bandโ consists of Kristers Rudzฤซtis (vocals),โค Maikls Drobins (bass guitar), Alvis Kozuls (solo guitar), and armands Runcis (drums).
