Vietnam Veteran and Dedicated family Man, James “Jim” Boyd, Jr., Passes Awayโข at 84
SOUTHPORT, NC – November 8, 2025 – James “Jim” Dallasโ Boyd, Jr., 84, passed away on November 7, 2025. Aโข longtime resident of Southport, North Carolina, Boyd was remembered by โฃthose who knew him as a deeply โขkind man.
Born in Spartanburg, South โCarolina, to the late James D. boyd, Sr. and Euzelia Allen Boyd,Jim was the eldest ofโ their four children: Edward,Julianna,and Mary Gale Brown. He pursued his studiesโข at Clemson University before honorably serving his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Throughout his career, Boyd โworked as an Instrument and Controls Designerโ at the St. โLucie Power Plant in Stuart, Florida, and later at the Savannahโ River Site in augusta, Georgia.
In 1983,heโ married Phyllis Boyd,and together โthey raised one son,James D. Boyd, III, who currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Retirement led Jim to Southport, drawn by his passion for fishing. He enjoyed a full life filled with reading, boating, hunting, building small boats, and appreciating the โฃoutdoors and wildlife. A devoted memberโ of โฃSacred โHeart Catholic Church,โค he served โas an usher for approximately ten years and was an โactive member of the Knights of Columbus, where he volunteered as their local librarian.
A Mass celebrating Jim’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on November โฃ18, 2025, atโ 11:00 AM, preceded by a visitation at the church at 10:00 AM.An internment with military honors will take place โin the Church columbarium at a later date.
