NIA raids homes of Popular Front leaders | Wayanad | Kerala | Deshabhimani

The NIA also raided the homes of district leaders of the banned Popular Front group. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a search of one house each in Mananthavadi Dhayayangadi, Tharuvana, Kampalakkad and Batheri and two houses in Mananthavadi Peechankot.

The inspection, which began on Thursday morning, continued until eight in the morning.

The raids were carried out in the homes of former PFI State Committee member PT Siddique, Makiveetil Iqbal, former SDPI Mananthavadi Constituency Chairman Fazal Rahman, a Dhayangadi native, PFI KP Kannur Area Secretary Ashraf, Vellamunda Pulikad and Batheri Cholakal Abdul Jalil.

Some of them are accused in cases registered in various stations, including the PFI Hartal case. Cell phones, letters, etc. were seized during the search. A team led by NIA DySP Arvind, Police Inspectors Vinay Gurmeet Gujar, Ajay Khadam and Akhilesh conducted the inspection in the presence of the District Police force.

Furthermore, last September, the NIA raided Popular Front centers in the district. An inspection was conducted that day, including at the Masjidul Noor institute under the Islamic Center Trust near the Mananthavadi bus stand. On Sept. 22, a joint NIA-ED team seized documents including a laptop. In Mananthavadi taluk, PFI had influence in all areas like Velamunda, Peechangode, Panamaram and Mananthavadi.
