Lens Defender Kevin Danso Named Ligue1 MVP for 2022/23 Season by Get French Football News

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 12, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Special honor for ÖFB legionnaire and Lens defensive man Kevin Danso!

The defender was officially named Ligue1 MVP of the 2022/23 season by the French portal “Get French Football News” in the player of the season vote.

Danso prevailed against greats like superstar Kylian Mbappe and can look forward to the honorable award.

Danso consistent throughout the season

The reason for the 24-year-old’s award lies in his consistency throughout the season, in which he hardly made a serious mistake and which ultimately resulted in the win against co-favorite Kylian Mbappe.

Only in a duel against Olympique Marseille did Danso concede a goal against Alexis Sanchez, which fortunately was disallowed.

But Danso is not the only one who received this special honor in Lens. Because like his protégé, Franck Haise, the head coach of the “Lensois”, was honored and voted coach of the year.

The 52-year-old led the club from Ligue 2 to the Champions League and is largely responsible for RC Lens’ success.

Wahi as youngster of the year – Griezmann best Frenchman abroad

Since his contract runs until the summer of 2027, he will contest the upcoming Champions League group phase with the Danso-Elf.

The portal gave another award to Montpellier’s Elye Wahi, who at the age of 20 was able to score 19 goals and six assists last season and thus deserved the main prize in the “Youngster of the Year” category.

And Antoine Griezmann did not go away empty-handed either. The Atletico veteran experienced a kind of second spring last season and was able to shoot himself into the spotlight in the category “Best Frenchman Abroad” with 15 goals and 17 assists in the Spanish LaLiga.

Al-Hilal Reportedly in Talks to Sign Neymar from PSG as Next Star for Saudi Pro League

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 11, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Lionel Messi is not moving to Saudi Arabia – this news recently caused a stir in the football world.

The Argentinian world champion decided against the bulging suitcase of money from the desert state and hired instead in the USA at Beckham club Inter Miami, where he is still handsomely rewarded.

After the disappointment about Messi, the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal now apparently wants to fish his buddy and ex-teammate Neymar

According to a report by “CBS Sports”, representatives of Al-Hilal are currently in Paris and are trying to sign the most expensive footballer in the world.

Next star for the Saudi Pro League?

With Paris Saint-Germain keen to part ways with the 31-year-old and the Saudis willing to pay a gargantuan salary, it is now up to the Brazilian to continue his career in Europe.

The Riyadh club and their owner, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), are keen to sign another top player as they offer a new star to counter great rivals Al-Nassr, from whom Cristiano Ronaldo rakes in his millions. As one of the most iconic professionals in world football, Neymar would tick all the boxes for Al-Hilal.

Most recently, reigning champions A-Ittihad brought two world-renowned players to the Saudi Pro League in Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

Salary offer in Ronaldo spheres

The terms of the contract would be comparable to those of Ronaldo, whose total salary is said to be around 200 million euros a year. In addition, the 18-time Saudi champion is said to be ready to pay a transfer fee of around 45 million euros. However, Al-Hilal has yet to enter into talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

For their part, PSG would welcome any adequate offer for Neymar, whose contract expires in 2025, the report states.

Meanwhile, staying in Europe is also an option. Various English clubs are said to be interested in signing Neymar.

Igor Tudor to Depart Olympique Marseille at End of Season: Club President Confirms

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 2, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Olympique Marseille and head coach Igor Tudor will go their separate ways at the end of the season.

Club president Pablo Longoria confirmed the departure on Thursday during a press conference. Accordingly, the coach himself is said to have asked for the release: “Olympique Marseille accepted and respected his coach’s decision not to continue the adventure next season,” said Longoria.

The Croatian was only installed as the successor to Jorge Sampaoli at the beginning of the season, his contract actually runs until June 2024.

Club determines desired coach

It is not yet known who will take over the reins of third-placed Ligue 1 in the future. According to information from “Foot Mercato”, Argentinian Marcelo Gallardo is very popular within the club, and he believes that his philosophy would suit Olympique well.

Gallardo ran River Plate for over eight years but resigned last December. The 44-time Argentinian national player was under contract with AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain during his active career, he spent the rest of his career almost exclusively at home.

Cristiano Ronaldo Confirms His Future with Al-Nassr and Believes in the Saudi League’s Potential for Growth

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com June 2, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Rumors have been growing for several days that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave his club Al-Nassr after just a few months.

In an interview with the Saudi League, however, the superstar now takes a clear stance: “I’m happy here. I want to and will continue here,” said the Portuguese. Despite losing the championship to Al-Ittihad this season, Ronaldo still has big plans for his new homeland.

Since his arrival, the world footballer has scored 14 goals in 16 games and caused a real football hype in the oil state. The ambitions of the league leadership are well known, in the summer other top stars like Karim Benzema, Luka Modric or Ronaldo’s long-time rival Lionel Messi should upgrade the competition.

Ronaldo trusts Saudi League big leaps

The 38-year-old sees the development of the Saudi League very positively: “The league is very good. But I believe that we still have many opportunities for growth. The league is competitive, we have very good teams and very good Arab players, but the infrastructure needs to be improved further.”

Afterwards, Ronaldo surprised with a daring statement: “In my opinion, if the efforts that have been made are carried out over the next five years, the Saudi League can become one of the top five leagues in the world.”

Further steps in this direction could be taken in the upcoming transfer window. Should players like Benzema or Messi actually follow the call of the money, the Saudi League would become even more attractive.

Zinedine Zidane Rejects 150 Million Euro Offer from Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 26, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Zinedine Zidane has apparently turned down an exorbitant offer from Saudi Arabia.

According to “Foot Mercato”, Al-Nassr wanted to ensure that the coach without a club met Cristiano Ronaldo again and lured the Frenchman with a total salary of 150 million euros.

However, Zidane is said to have refused and cannot imagine moving to the desert state.

The 50-year-old has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid two years ago. There has been more speculation in recent months about a return to the coaching business, among other things, the world star has been associated with Paris Saint-Germain and most recently with Juventus Turin.

“Bundesliga Showdown: RB Leipzig vs FC Bayern Munich”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 20, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

On the 33rd matchday of the German Bundesliga, RB Leipzig meets FC Bayern Munich in the top game (from 6:30 p.m. in the LIVE ticker <<<).

Bayern are still a point ahead of closest pursuer Borussia Dortmund and cannot afford to slip up. Since the Mainz defeat (1:3), the Munich team are back on track and have celebrated three wins in a row and still have everything in their own hands. Probably the biggest stumbling block in the rest of the program are the great Leipzig players.

They have won four of the last five Bundesliga games and are also in the DFB Cup final in Berlin. The “Bulls” are currently third, but the Champions League is not yet completely dry. This is one of the reasons why a really hot game is expected.
