Delhiโ High Court Hears Appeal in Karanja โPort Dispute, MPL Alleges Irregularities โฃinโ Revised Auction
mumbai, India – โ Mobile Port Logistics (MPL) has appealed to the Delhi High Court, seeking redress afterโฃ Bank ofโค Baroda unexpectedly withheld final sanction forโค a previously agreed-upon One-Time Settlement (OTS) despite consent from allโฃ otherโค lenders. The company โคalleges a subsequent, โฃhastily launched Swiss-Challenge auction was conducted on โคrevised โขterms that excluded MPL’s subsidiary andโฃ lowered the approval threshold.
MPL contendsโ the new auction process โคfavors a bidder โฃpreviously unsuccessfulโฃ in โthe original round, raising concerns โคabout clarity and consistency. The company securedโ approvals โfor the original OTS and believes all obligations were met, asserting the initial agreement should be honored.
“I am surprised andโ disappointed โฃthat โขthe arbitrary nature of โcancelling the duly sanctioned OTS has notโฃ beenโ recognised,” โคsaid โPav Bakhshi, Managing Director of MPL. “we believe that โคwe have โคfulfilled allโฃ our obligations and that the original agreement should beโ honoured.”
The Karanja port, built โwith British, Indian, and American capital, is positioned to โsupport India’s growing โinternationalโค trade. MPL highlights continued โinternationalโ investor interest in the port’sโ future expansion.
MPL will pursue further legal avenues, including an appeal to theโฃ Supreme Court ofโค India if necessary. Updates will โฃbe provided as the situation develops.
