Morrissey Cancelsโ boston andโค Foxwoods Shows Following Death Threat
BOSTON – British singer Morrissey has canceled his scheduled performances atโ MGM Musicโ Hall at Fenway in Boston on Saturday night and at Foxwoods resort onโ Friday,โฃ following โฃwhat has beenโค describedโ as a “credible โฃthreat” to his life.
MGM Music Hall announced the cancellation, stating, “Inโค recent days, thereโค has been โฃa credible โขthreat on โMorrissey’s โlife.Out ofโฃ an โabundance ofโ caution for the safety ofโ both the artist andโ band, tomorrow’s engagementโฆhas been cancelled.”
The cancellations come after an Ottawa manโข was arrested and chargedโ with threatening to shoot Morrissey at a music festivalโฃ in Ottawa last weekend. โThe Ottawa โCitizen reported the man โคhas since been released on โฃbail and is โขcurrently staying with his father in Washington, D.C. Despite the โthreat, Morrissey performed in Ottawa andโ Newโ York earlier this โฃweek.
According to a postโ on Morrissey’s official social mediaโค pages,โ “All tickets will beโ refunded automatically at yourโฃ original point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding.”
Morrissey, 66, rose to fame as the frontman of โฃThe Smiths and โคis โknown for hits such as “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” “Suedehead,” “First of โthe Gang โto Die,” and “The More โคYou Ignore Me, The Closer I โฃGet.”
