“Cyclist Clément Petit Sets Ambitious Goals After Impressive Performances in Stage Races”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 18, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

In one month, Clément Petit has chained two 4th places in stage races, at the Circuit du Mené then at the Tour du Loiret. “It proves that when there is a time, I can play the general. I would have even liked to do better, but I feel that I have passed a big milestone. Last year, I finished 12th in Loiret. I had to gain ten places on the clock. I gained strength and confidence. I just maybe lack a bit of confidence to win“entrusts to the microphone of DirectVelo the member of VC Rouen 76.

On the Essor Breton which starts this Thursday, the 22-year-old athlete has ambitions even if there is no time trial this time. “I come to play the general and even a stage. Sunday is hard but I have to look more closely. The general is attractive, it allows you to stay focused every day“. With the hope of raising the arms. “I’m Espoir 4, I’ve only won one race in four years (the Grand Prix de la Sainte-Anne in Bricquebec in 2021, editor’s note). A win would be good for the confidence and the team. I’m starting to walk well, I feel like I’m capable of it. I would like it to happen quickly and start on a new dynamic“.

In June, Clément Petit will take part in two Class 2 races, the Tour d’Eure-et-Loir and the Tour du Pays de Montbéliard, before heading to the French Championship. “These are two great events, it will be important to look for results. The Tour de l’Eure-et-Loir is important to me because I was born in Dreux. Last year, I could have been well placed if I hadn’t punctured in the final on the last day. It can smile on me because it happens in small groups and I have a burst of speed“. In the meantime, he is preparing for the European Track Championship in Anadia (Portugal) in July. “I will have an internship at the beginning of June. It is necessary to recover sequences. The road gives me strength for the track and vice versa. We manage well with my trainer. For now, it’s ok. I hope that will be the case until July“.

Arthur Blaise Confirms His Time Trial Dominance in Côte d’Or Classic

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 16, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Arthur Blaise confirms his qualities in stage races, in particular thanks to his potential in time trials. Already victorious in the exercise on the Route d’Eole, before taking the general, the usual rider of Antony Berny Cycliste also won the time trial of the Côte d’Or Classic (see ranking). But this time, the one who wears the colors of the Île-de-France committee does not have the leader’s jersey that goes with it, due to the differences the day before. Nevertheless, he still has an opportunity this afternoon to turn everything upside down, as he explains to DirectVelo before the last act of the trilogy. Interview.

DirectVelo: How did you manage this time?
Arthur Blaise: It was a long lap, over 17 terminals, so we had to manage it well, not go too hard, with the headwind in the second part, on the return. It was important to finish well to make the difference, and I think that’s what I did well.

This is your second victory against the clock after that of the Route d’Eole…
So far, I’ve won all my times since the start of the year. It’s an effort that I like and that I worked a lot. But I have good qualities on the road too, I also finished 2nd in the straight leg of the Route d’Eole. Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of bad luck lately. I had a mechanical problem on the Pévèle, I had no more brakes… I had to change my bike. I still made it back, but hey… Then at Paris-Roubaix, I had a puncture on the first cobbled section. I haven’t been able to show what I’m capable of yet, it’s a shame. But in time, it works well. Everyone knows that I am strong.

“MAKE EVERYTHING FAST”

You got ahead of quite a client since the Norwegian Jorgen Nordhagen signed for three years in the Jumbo-Visma WorldTeam. Did you expect to be able to beat him?
Yes of course. I came to win, not to finish 2nd. When I started, it was to beat everyone. I knew who was there and who I needed to beat. The course was interesting. It was very fast but still very hard. Yesterday (Sunday), already, it was complicated in the rain and the cold. He had to recover well, sleep well. This morning, it is 2°C… We are impatiently waiting for the heat. But we had to deal with it, these are the same conditions for everyone.

You have moved up to the general standings and you will therefore have two good cards to play with that of Gabriel (Berg), winner of the first stage. How do you imagine the line race this afternoon, how to maneuver?
I’m super happy for Gabriel (Berg) but as he was in front, it’s true that it forced me not to move behind, and so I finished with the peloton. With the clock, I hoped to be able to win the overall. But suddenly, we will have to go back to the front and blow everything up. I can hope to win the overall, Gabriel too. Or another! The most important thing is that a rider from the Ile-de-France committee wins.

“Cycling Juniors Head to Côte d’Or Classic for Second Round of Coupe de France”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 15, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

After Paris-Roubaix, the first round of the Nations Cup, the fine flower of the French Juniors is back for the second meeting of the Coupe de France this weekend. The Côte d’Or Classic and its three stages will offer many points for the Challenge S1Neo-DirectVelo Juniors. The online stages are worth 60 points to the winner, the time trial 30 points, and the general classification 80 points.

DARIO GIULIANO BACK ON THE PODIUM

At the start of this Côte d’Or Classic, Matys Grisel will return to his Hauts-de-France committee. Already at the head of the Challenge S1Neo before Paris-Roubaix, his victory on the cobblestones strengthens his place in the leader’s chair. The member of CC Nogent-sur-Oise has a total of 280 points, 127 more than Titouan Fontaine (VC Villefranche Beaujolais), his first pursuer.

Last week, it was not just Paris-Roubaix. Etoile du Limbourg du Sud (2.1) allowed Dario Giuliano to regain his place on the podium. 17th overall in Belgium, he gleaned 19 points throughout the four days. He is tied with Hugo Tapiz who scored no points last week.

AN INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM AT THE PENN AR BED

This week, it’s not just the Coupe de France to score points. Penn Ar Bed Juniors has gone international. Ranked 2.1, it rewards stage victory with 50 points and final victory with 90 points. The riders from the west will have to face very international competition.

In the Junior 1 classification, Johan Chardon (Les Sables Vendée Cyclisme) still occupies first place in the S1Neo Challenge and he too will be present at the Côte d’Or Classic. In this second round of the Coupe de France, the South Region committee team has a strong Marseille accent. With six selected from VC La Pomme Marseille, the club will have several assets to defend its first place in the team classification of the Challenge S1Neo-DirectVelo.
