Maryland STEM Festival to Embark on Month-Long Statewide Tour in 2025
LAUREL, MD – The Maryland STEM Festival will return October 17 – November 16, 2025, bringing a diverse arrayโค of science, technology, engineering, and math events directly โto communities across the state. Unlike conventional festivals requiringโ travel, the Maryland STEM Festival aims to meet attendees where thay โฃare with hundreds of interactive,โฃ hands-on โฃexperiences.
The 2025 festival will emphasize discovery and inclusion, with events open to the publicโ and many offered free of charge. Programs are designed โขto engage learnersโข of all ages and interests, from young makers toโ aspiring scientists and lifelong learners, and demonstrate the real-world impact of STEM โฃfields.
this year’s theme is “Energy!” The festival kicks off with aโ freeโ Opening Ceremony on Thursday, โขOctober 16, from 6-8 p.m. at Capital Technology University in Laurel, featuring interactive STEM activities, demonstrations, and refreshments. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Highlights include the Lower Shore STEM Festival on Saturday, October 18, from 9 a.m.-noon atโ Salisbury University, where attendees can meet former astronaut Don thomas and WDMT meteorologist Erich Ahlf. The first 100 students will receive a free festival t-shirt,โฃ and the event โwill feature “The Science of Sorcery” with magician Dave Thomen, alongside exhibits inโ robotics, โastronomy, and aviation.
Additional events plannedโ throughout the month include the Blue Collar STEMโค Conferenceโ and Job Fair in columbia, the Frederickโข STEM Carnival at Carroll Creek Amphitheater โin Frederick, a Nintendo afternoon, an eSports Conference, and a Girl STEM Powerment event.
The festival culminates with a free Closing Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the Gaithersburg โฃLibrary, featuringโข speeches from STEM leaders, interactive activities, and demonstrations with light refreshments.
